AT&T does this w/ 250GB. It's totally bull, since you're paying up the ass to these companies & they give you shit service.

BTW how long can 300GB last?

netflix HD streams can suck 3-5GB an hour

so if you watch 1 movie a day youre at the limit. for individuals this might be OK, but for families with kids forget about it. or individuals who like to watch porn

If nothing else it should help competition. My son lives in Portland which is on Google Fiber's expansion list. He presently pays less for > 50 MBps Comcast than I do for 20 MBps Comcast.

The problem with the debate about shitty internet in this country is everyone argues for $100 fiber while a huge majority of the country cannot, or shouldn't think they can afford that.

Right now I pay $50 for 6mbps down and 1mbps upload. I torrent and do all kinds of shit with that. I can live with it. I just need to be paying like $20 for it.

I think the new rules from the FCC will eventually (after years of litigation) mean that 25mbps needs to be the norm. That is the legit broadband speed. So Comcast will likely subsidize that speed for truly poor people, the working lower-middle class (that used to be solidly middle class) will make too much money to qualify for subsidized internet and will be forced to into a package they cannot afford and probably do not need.
