Mack Brown stopped recruiting 7-8 years ago. He thought that the Vince Young team & an AD position gave him lifetime job security and instant keys to the best recruits.

I fully expected ND to handle Texas, but this game was yet another step back for Texas' program.
Unbelievable how bad Texas looked.

Got really high hopes for ND. Got some O-line issues that need to be shored up.

My favorite part of the BYU/Nebraska TD play is the other BYU WR near the catch that immediately runs and tries to hug the ref that is signaling TD

Huskies look strong again. They have a great QB, great RB, and great WR. They have completely dominated the 2nd half.

NIU's best WR went down in the 1st with another injury, after sitting out almost the whole year with an injury last year.
NIU's 2nd best RB spent 3/4 of the game on crutches and hugging teammates while crying.
They were behind for more of this game than ahead. But they were favored by 23.5 pts.
What game were you watching?

I think NIU can be as good as they were last year, but this was not the best start they could have hoped for.
Next week should be a win.....but then......

PLEASE ILLINOIS. HIRE ROD CAREY.

Rod Carey is 23-6 as head coach of the Huskies in 2 seasons & change. He's fine. Like I said, NIU has a great QB, great RB, and great WR. NIU always plays a couple of games each year where they get off to a terrible start...but they nearly always rise to the occasion & mount a comeback to win the game. I like this team & they are good for 9 wins & another bowl game.

Carey doesn't bother me. I need to see how his recruits turn out though. I am just happy the PJ to lllinois rumors are done. I keep trying to figure out where he will end after he does work at WMU. I am thinking Iowa is the final destination in the college ranks.

I don't know if OSU can juggle this wealth of QB riches.

Too much stress for the guy up front to know he could be pulled quick.

Wow. VA Tech was on the verge of being blown out, then they mount a comeback to take the lead. I would love to see Va Tech win this game.

That would't have mattered would it?

Twice. It didn't go well.

Lost to Ohio St last time we played them
Lost to Miami, FL in the '80's

Kid from VA Tech (#4) last night was wearing a gold Rolex type watch on the field. My 18 yr old son thought it was hilarious. He didn't understand why I was so put off by it until I asked him: "If you were pitching and a guy with flashy jewelry stepped into the box, what would you do & why".

A few moments he admitted he'd have been very, very hot & would have drilled the kid right in the wrist.   (Yeah, I know it's wrong but still    ) Who knew I could have such a teachable moment with my son 400 miles away.

I'm perfectly fine with Carey. We seem to be a strong 2nd half team under him. We play down to our competition the first half then dominate in the 2nd halves. He could do a better job in postseason games and makes some odd decisions every now and then. Outside of Ohio State (that one is going to be brutal; i saw us play them in 2006 when they were #1 and we had Garrett Wolfe), there is no reason we shouldn't be able to win the other 11 games.

Hare looked good this first game, granted it was vs. UNLV but as usual he made good decisions and his downfield passing game has improved. We didn't do much of our zone-read in this game instead playing a pro-type offense of drop back and pass or run the ball up the middle. Not our usual offensive style. Once we ran the hurry-up in the 2nd half the UNLV defense had no answer.

#19 Kenny Golladay was in beast mode. Him and Tommylee Lewis on the field are going to do some damage this season, if TLL can stay healthy. Apparently TLL could have have played but they held him out. I imagine they will hold him out vs. Murray St this weekend too. Our #2 RB, Keith Harris Jr, is out for the season, yet again.

As for Illinois, they could do far worse than Bill Cubit. If he has a winning season or darn near close to it, they should extend him for a couple of years to see what he can do.

This may kill Dr. Ken, but I don't think they have a better choice.

Here is the formula, where x = your current age.

(X/2) + 9

Is there a <> component to that?

I need all the facts before I present this argument to Mrs. Dr. Ken.
