He's a cancer. Coach killer.
And all that would be fine if he doesn't suck but he does.

I mean don't resign him at the end of the year.

Who would you rather pay his money to?

4-5 other solid starters and a rookie QB who probably wouldn't put up significantly worse numbers.

I need names

Agreed it will be difficult to move him. Gotta think the cap hit for cutting him after the season wouldn't be too awful maybe. My only point is they should definitely TRY to get rid of him as soon as possible, regardless of what it costs.

He's not fine. No one thinks he's fine. Well almost no one. The Jay Cutler experiment was a huge failure that was capped off by the insanely stupid contract that the Bears gave Jay.

It's week 1 already. I don't think there's anyone available now. Maybe PacMan will be tomorrow. Try to trade him for literally anybody or cut him at the end of the year and I can give you names then when I know who's available.

Sorry, I meant QB names.

Who are all of the Cutler-haters wanting to replace him with, to make this team better?

That's the crux of the disagreement. Nobody is trying to make the team better immediately. This debate is about recognizing that the Cutler era is officially over, and was a disaster, and moving on to literally anybody. Bottom out and rebuild, especially since the rest of the team outside of Forte and 1 or 2 others sucks.

Shall we also agree that the bears should have started drafting qbs two fucking years ago?

The Bears won 5 games with Jay last year. How many do you think they win with Clausen or Fales...4...maybe 5? The Cutler era is over & the timing is right to rebuild with a new young QB from the draft. Use Jays money to shore up the Bears other areas of deficiency.

Think how much different this team is if we drafted Teddy Bridgewater instead of locking up this clown.

That's the point. These are the only guys who are appreciably better than anyone else. After the top 5 or so, the QB play becomes very similar until you hit maybe the bottom five who are awful.

As such, there is no point paying, say, the 12th best QB in the league a ton of money when you could pay, say, the league's 23rd best quarterback much, MUCH less.

You can't continue to suck against your top division rival.

So you're totally misisng the point. You wouldn't pay his $18 million to an alternative. You'd either pay a draft pick his rookie wage or a back-up type like Fitzgerald and allocate the remaining 13M-17M to shore up deficiencies.

Doesn't help this team.

What are you moving on to??? Cutler is fine if you can shore up the other 14 areas of this team that suck.

You can't shore up the other 14 areas. There is a salary cap.

As has been the case with most Bears losses over the last few seasons, Cutler takes some blame but he also has lots of company. 0 turnovers, 0 sacks, 0 QB hits by the defense is not going to win you many games against a guy like Rodgers unless they offense is going to put up at least 40 points.

They've replaced every other scapegoat in his time here. I'm not even sure who is left but Forte and obviously he isn't the problem. I think we all know that Cutler could play into his 40s and never be the worst player on the team. He has enough talent for that.

Of course he isn't the biggest problem with the team. You have to be absolutely abysmal to be the quarterback and be the biggest problem on the team. Rex Grossman and Kyle Orton were never the biggest problem on the team besides maybe Orton's rookie year, but that team was good and he shouldn't have been playing either.

But, let's assume that there are 14 other issues with this team that need to be addressed. That is even more of a reason to move on from Cutler. You need that cap space, and you need those high picks. Find a team who doesn't have many holes who would love to have a quarterback like Cutler who is good enough to win a Super Bowl with a good team.

Hes football Samardzija. Hes not good enough. The only team he maybe could've done it on was the early 70s Dolphins where Griese only threw 12 times a game.

This last sentence shows that you don't want to fully acknowledge the point, at the very least. A "cheap" veteran wouldn't have to be better. They would only need to be as good or perhaps even slightly worse (which shouldn't be that hard). The point is that bringing in someone cheaper allows the QB position to not be as good. When you're paying a guy $20 mil and he's average at best, it's a bad recipe, because the odds are that the rest of your team won't be that good due to the salary cap.
