2nd and goal from the two with a running game that has run it down their throats all day...and you decide to pass it three times

Agree. Have to run it on 2nd/ 3rd for sure.
But then again....stupid Cutler. Play calling would have been better with Mike Glennon at QB.

Gase knows Forte can't plow forward. Bears have three RBs (maybe more), none of them are short yardage specialists. A read option play would've been nice. Having nobody in the backfield sucks at that time IMO. hell, even a draw play.

From the limited sports radio I've listened to afterwards, most of what I've heard is how the Bears weren't suppose to beat the Packers and no mention of how they had a chance to tie the game late but blew it because of bad play calling near the goal line. Has anyone on air made this their main vocal point? It's the main story of the game but all I've heard about is how Jay blew it and Rodgers is too good anyways.

You or I would of ran it in from 2 yards out with three chances against the Packers yesterday.

Certainly you realize that criticizing Cutler and criticizing other things are not mutually exclusive.

The whole "Yeah, but Cutler  " passive-aggressive thing really makes no sense.

I'm not sure this is true. How many yards did Forte get between the tackles? there must be some website that has that info. Pretty hard to run wide with 11 men five yards from the line.

of course, the results couldn't have been worse than they were. nobody would be second guessing if they just ran the ball.

Here's a little secret for everyone regarding Gase -- people think he's good because of Peyton Manning. He really is not a very good OC, he was just smart enough to stay out of Manning's way.

He will undoubtedly fall on his face now having to run an O with Short Bus running the O.

Sure it does. I hear WAY more complaints about Cutler than any other parts of the game this morning.

I was screaming at tv when cutler passed on 2nd down. I said if they pass on 3rd then the whole season is over.

Then later when cutler lost the game by throwing that int i just about burned my bears shirt. How many times do we have to watch the same guy do the same shit and he keeps getting new bosses as if thats the problem?

I think it was going to cost them $30 mil to cut Cutler this season. Like $13 mil next season and $2 mil the year after. So he will be gone at some point.

Yesterday the coaching staff got that "aha! I see what everybody was saying" moment regarding Cutler. Very first game. You know that will forevermore be at the forefront of their thinking process.

Run that ball three times and it never puts Cutler in a position to throw the pick. None of those passes was even close.

Overall I had no issue with the play calling. Your $18M QB should be able to complete a pass.

With the way Forte was running the ball I agree. That being said I don't think asking your franchise QB to complete a pass is a terrible idea. If you can't ask the $18M man to complete 1 pass from the 2 then he shouldn't be on the team.

The $18 million QB isn't really any good.

pretty much this. i think on that final goal line crapout he had the WR on 4th down but overthrew it. i wanna say a few plays b4 that he had another guy open in the endzone and overthrew it.... if he hits one of those we're having different thoughts today.

that said, with forte being pretty damn good between the tackles and on short yardage situations i can only guess as to why they didnt try him later in the 4th quarter. only 6 rushes in the 2nd half? damn.

Is that the one that was almost picked off by three different Packers?

I guarantee this would have been the main vocal point if Shields hadn't been flagged on the FG & the offense had come away with 9 points on 3 trips inside the 10. The whole "at least it was close" and "they were clearly better coached" meme wouldn't be so prevalent.

Bernstein is the only person I have heard say it, but Cutler has clearly lost some velocity on his throws.

Same shoddy footwork, same beat-in tunnel-vison staring down of receivers when he is under pressure, but now it appears as if he has lost the ability to zip the ball in tight spots like he used to.

Some of us noticed it at the end of last year, but he has definitely lost some of the zip. Funny thing is, if Cutler himself knows this and accepts it, it might make him a better QB. If not, he becomes even more of a liability.

More? No... I've heard a lot of Cutler complaints, some of them levied myself... but not more than any other area. I've heard more complaints about Gase's play calling on the goalline, which by the way, I do agree 100% with Nas on. In a perfect world, yes, you would pound it down their throat three times and score. But... this isn't even a conversation on most teams because they have a QB capable of making a play in the red zone. Cutler has never been able to, which is even more disheartening given his natural athleticism, which typically makes QB's better red zone threats.

since cutler is a sunk cost and a short timer, I would abuse the shit out of him. run the read option. who cares if he gets killed? QB sneaks & draws.

Put him at linebacker. You know he's tougher than Shane Mclaughlin.

Or let Brian Kelly call draw plays on 1st down.....good way to get your QB hurt.

Can they make Gase the assistant head coach next year so they won't lose him to another team? Maybe a handshake deal that he'll be the next head coach? He's doing a hell of a job.
