Here is my 2 cents:

Defense still sucks. My question is who are the big play guys on this defense? The only thing "I remember is that kid,Ball at corner almost knocking a ball away a few times.

Run the Rock sounds nice but the number one purpose of any 21st century offense is to test the corners and LB crew in coverage. Cutler might as well have been Clausen with the handcuffs he was wearing. The offense imho is at least 20% better without Mills.

Bears Special teams need to improve coverage and Gould needs more kickoffs to go deeper. The punter looks pretty decent. Gould is still the man when it comes to kicking FG's.

That kid, Alan Ball, is 30.

Given the Bears personnel, the offensive game plan was solid. Cutler sucks and Forte is great, so it makes sense to be primarily a running team if you have those guys, regardless of what century it is. That 10 minute drive by the Packers in the 2nd half really hurt the Bears from a running stand point.

I was entertained for 3 quarters, like the no huddle, no delay of games...few penalties . Cutty still sucks, Allen is still washed up..Shea doesn't belong on an NFL roster.

Jones n mcphee looked solid. Played the best qb in the league..didn't expect a win.

the game was actually watchable, so i enjoyed the competitiveness of it. cutler is going to cutler, especially against GB. hard not to question why they didnt run the ball first and goal from 6

i couldnt believe that the bears were actually a the team that was getting tot he line quick and forcing the defense to show their hand... then adjusting

They looked like a 6 win team.

Certainly better than last year (could not be worse), and given the coaching staff this team should be "in" at least 14 games they play this season. That said I think what we saw yesterday is what will happen 8 or 9 more times this year. The Bears will play well enough to have a chance to win late, but they just do not have to the talent to do so and thus won't win unless the other team makes a mistake.

They had their chances to stay in the game and possibly win it which is more than I could say at many points last year in multiple games.
The defense is average at best, but if they can develop a pass rush and the CB's can turnaround and defend a pass once in a while they
seemed pretty stout against one of the tougher backs in the league to drag down ( looking at your McClellin ).

The offense was pretty benign but they moved the ball on the Packers pretty well. Forte is still a stud and they are going to ride him
until his saddle falls of this year, thank him for his service and then push him out to pasture. He should have caught that touchdown
pass but is usually a solid hands guy. Jay made the one major mistake with the INT but other than that he proved he can be a game
manager which this team probably needs a lot of the time.

No complaints with special teams and the penalties were kept to a minimum, although they were sloppier in the 2nd half.

Not running the ball on 2nd and goal at the 2 ultimately cost us the game. I am seriously becoming racist against offensive coordinators. From the call in the Super Bowl last year, not feeding Forte the ball on the goal line when he was unstoppable all game and the Giants trying a play action late in the game last night; it's a total fucking circus act.

Other than that, I was pleasantly surprised how competitive and competent they looked. They had a legit chance to win that game yesterday but they just don't have enough playmakers at the end of the day. They still blow, but maybe not as bad as I initially expected. We'll see.

It was painful having to hang the Packer flag out front at my house. The boy thought that it would hang out there until the Packers played the Bears again and I explained to
him that was not how the deal worked. Whatever team wins, that flag goes out front. IF they both win, the team that wins by more takes the flag pole. I will say that I
rubbed the flag on my butt before I put it outside, which made me feel slightly better.

Thanks again for you and your wife's graciousness in having us over, we both greatly appreciated it. Also, for coming to watch the games, very cool.

like I said before the game, Fox knows how to coach to keep games close. I'm not sure this makes them better than last year, it just looks better.

It was our pleasure having you guys over, glad you could make it. Enjoyed watching your son pitch a very solid game.

As was stated they looked more competent. They just don't have the talent. Zero defense talent and little on offense. Aside from the goal line stand it was as well as that game could be handled. Forte and the offensive line is about all the scrubs have. Fox coached them the best he could. No one expects much this year so it was about what I expected.

Negatives: Same shit as last year
Cutler looks the same.
Defense only forced the Packers to punt twice.
Special teams still suck.
Shane Mcclellin starting
Bad red zone offense

Positives:
No huddle
Penalties
Real coaches (smart gameplan against GB)
aggresive (not to be confused with effective) defense

The Bears have talent on both sides of the ball. Definitely enough to win. What they don't have is leadership at key positions. The QB and Center provide no leadership on O. The MLB's and Safeties provide no leadership on D.

You cannot win games in the NFL without strong leadership at key positions on the field. The Bears do not have them. Compounding the problem is that the team's best player (Forte) is a mute. If the best player isn't a leader, then you really have problems.

Also, Cutler is literally one of the bottom 5 QB's in the league. I can think of maybe 1 or 2 other starters from yesterday that I would not choose over Cutler to play for the Bears.

...and the results of this will be.

1. The deadbeats who wont be here next year are all the will see the field.
2. they might won 1 or 2 more games due to other teams mistakes an thus we get a worse draft pick.

Least exciting start to a Bears season in 25 years.

Highlight of the game...AMOS had 5 solo tackles leading the team...which is sad

Fangio doesn't have the players yet but being at the game, you could see he was doing different things.

Right here. Good coaching can result in unexpected wins. If you get good coaching here, and with a few balls bouncing your way in Detroit and GB, you can find yourself in contention for a spot. At that point the talent deficit will be exposed and you'll get routed, but getting there is certainly possible in football. Not so much in basketball, well at least in the western conference.

Trying to go 9-7 or 10-6 while getting pounded in the playoffs is no way to go through life.

Well if you can get to that record on pure preparation alone, then all it takes is some talent infusion in the off season to take it to the next level.

it's nice to have an actual coaching staff, that's what i got out of it. the bears didn't embarass themselves as much as i thought, and to have the ball with ~5mins in the 4th down 8 near the packers red zone (before the killer INT) = a hell of a lot closer than i thought they'd be. when they blew it on 4th down with 7mins t go right at the goal line you thought the game was over but i'll be damned if they didnt get a 3-and-out to get the ball back and drive down the field leading to that goddamn INT.

also i was calling forte "bizarro-forte" throughout the game because he successfully ran between the tackles, was dependable on converting 3rd/4th-and-short situations, and he was dropping wide open passes for TDs (right after he managed to catch a TD pass but didn't get both feet in bounds) --- it truly was the exact opposite of what you'd expect of the guy, which means kudos goes to the o-line too.

don tiny was saying in the game chat that the bears didn't seem interested in running at kyle long's right side of the line, so that's a bit alarming going forward. if everybody knows all of your runs are going to go left/ish then that's eventually going to get blown up sooner than later.

and who woulda think it that we have a marquess wilson sighting? hot damn.... it makes you wonder what we'd look like out there if we had that high-first-round-draft-pick at WR, eh? c'est la vie
