Have it wrong. One of the better games he's played, in fact. Made good decisions and kept drives alive, shown by the high 3rd down conversion percentage of 66%. Beating up on him for throwing one pick is not fair. He threw fifty other times and didn't throw a pick.

If you want to point the finger at someone, aim it at Fox and Gase for their dubious play calling in red zone territory. They're ultimately responsible for putting it the ball in Cutler's hands when he threw the pick, when they could have run it. Not only there, but also from 2nd and goal three times.

How come these guys didn't learn the lesson from Seattle in the last Superbowl? You don't throw from the two yard line when you have downs to give. It's elementary.

Straw man. There are mostly Cutler realists, not haters. Even spanky concedes that this 18 million dollar QB is nothing more than "fine."

I don't hate him. I think he's mediocre, overpaid for his talent level, obnoxious, self centered, and lacking self awareness on an epic level. He's no where near as good as 80% of the competition, but thinks he's a top 5, has issues with authority and might just be one of the biggest coach killers in the NFL all time.
That being said I'm glad he killed Trestman.

But really... you cannot repeat CANNOT build around him.

Yeah but as a 32 year old, nine year veteran he played passably well in a 21-32 loss to the Packers. So let's be fair here.

I have a question for anyone who still defends Cutler:

Do you think signing Cutler to his current deal was a good idea?

Genuinely curious.

He lost to a team that can't play defense. Passably well? Hes paid like fucking Tom Brady dude. That should buy you better than "passable".

That was one of his better games he has played as a Bear. Let that sink in.

This guy could easily go down in history as an unknown because of the situations he has found himself in and the debatable nature of how much he is responsible. Given the nature of this stuff taking place behind closed doors, with a historically insular organization, we will likely never know.

In Denver he had some things go in his favor as far as just enough personnel, he never had a truly good situation/organizational structure to thrive in. Denver's front office was a mess and Cutler had very good years with a very young, mistake prone o-line.

He's one of these guys who can make or break a room with his energy, and more often than not he appears breaks it. Football is just his job. That said, I think he could thrive with this organizational restructure and this coaching staff fits perfectly with what they did during his years in Denver.

Long hair jumped a telegraphed pass yesterday. The best QB's in the league telegraphed plenty of passes yesterday and maybe a pro-bowler makes a defensive play on it, or maybe he doesn't. That was a team loss against a better team - but they were not better coached. That is why I'm so pleased with a loss. That was a night/day change from last year. It's okay to watch the Bears again.

Even so, without Cutler you had no chance of winning. He put you in a position to beat the 2nd best team in the NFC last year, a team that should have beaten Seattle and gone on to win the Superbowl.

That is encouraging for us.

 He had a 50% completion percentage with a pick and a meaningless late touchdown.

The fuck? He's 1 and fucking 12 against your biggest rival and more importantly, team you have to beat to win your division. To say yesterday was one of his better games and you still lose by 9 points is a huge indictment of him. Seems to be just another page in the Cutler excuse book. " Well look at the defense, they didn't do shit." Its just a variation of "well he doesn't have anyone to throw to". To think that your 20 million dollar qb can only be effective and win games if everything else around him is optimal is terrible.

If Cutler throws an incomplete on first down and a eleven yard pass on second down, that 's a 50% completion percentage AND STILL A EFFING FIRST DOWN. THE DRIVE CONTINUES.

Ok... his yards per attempt was 6.25, good for 20th out of 28 QB's to play thus far in week 1. Your rebuttal...

If you want a good laugh, take a look at the front of the Sports section in the Tribune today. It shows the results of every meaningful late game possession Cutler has had against the Pack with a chance to tie or take the lead (or something close to that criteria). In 16 possessions, he's managed like three field goals and zero touchdowns.

This is a troll job, right? Please say yes. So things are encouraging because Cutler almost beat the team that almost beat the team that won the super bowl last year? Well now I can't wait for the Bears to lose to Seattle so we're one step closer to the DR's key progress indicator: barely losing to New England.

Being articulate is generally praiseworthy, but for every DR post I find that his articulateness functions more as a sort of window into seemingly limitless stupidity. That's why I think this is all a troll job.
