The best thing you can say for that game was that Cutler was managing the game ok until he threw yet another interception that was not his fault.

Then, when the game was pretty much out of reach, and the defense started sagging off, he padded his stats with a touchdown and some yards to make his stat line look halfway decent.

Correct.

When you start to factor in his salary, and his age, then it doesn't paint a very nice picture.

But hey, he's better than Cade McNown. Let's keep him for the next 10 years.

This may be the biggest indictment of Cutler posted since the game ended.

That was one of his better games he has played as a Bear. Let that sink in.

Even so, without Cutler you had no chance of winning. He put you in a position to beat the 2nd best team in the NFC last year, a team that should have beaten Seattle and gone on to win the Superbowl.

That is encouraging for us.

This is a troll job, right? Please say yes. So things are encouraging because Cutler almost beat the team that almost beat the team that won the super bowl last year? Well now I can't wait for the Bears to lose to Seattle so we're one step closer to the DR's key progress indicator: barely losing to New England.

Being articulate is generally praiseworthy, but for every DR post I find that his articulateness functions more as a sort of window into seemingly limitless stupidity. That's why I think this is all a troll job.

Reading comprehension is obviously not your strength, nor is logic. Your deduction of losing to New England is an indicator of a good team is completely off the mark. My point was GB was the 2nd best team in the NFC last year, and should have been the Superbowl winner. The fact that the Bears competed well against that team is indicative that they have promise this year.

It's not that hard to understand.

The fuck? He's 1 and fucking 12 against your biggest rival and more importantly, team you have to beat to win your division. To say yesterday was one of his better games and you still lose by 9 points is a huge indictment of him. Seems to be just another page in the Cutler excuse book. " Well look at the defense, they didn't do shit." Its just a variation of "well he doesn't have anyone to throw to". To think that your 20 million dollar qb can only be effective and win games if everything else around him is optimal is terrible.

If you want a good laugh, take a look at the front of the Sports section in the Tribune today. It shows the results of every meaningful late game possession Cutler has had against the Pack with a chance to tie or take the lead (or something close to that criteria). In 16 possessions, he's managed like three field goals and zero touchdowns.

Irrelevant. Past performance is not an indicator of future performance with this new coaching staff.

Total yards are meaningless. Usually indicates a QB who is playing from behind and throwing against a soft zone defense. Yards per attempt is much more meaningful.

The Gase offense is designed for a short to intermediate passing game. And one completion for 6.25 yrds after a 4 yrd run by Forte is still a FIRST DOWN.

They tried to Cutler proof the offense, the guy sucks. Green Bay has a weak ass defense.. Zona n Seattle are going to stop the run...he's going to be forced to throw down field... Its Gona get ugly.

No, I think I've read you pretty well.

By the way, since you mentioned logic, "should have been the Superbowl winner" and "competed well" are subjective premises.

Well, the lowest yards per attempt in the NFL last year was 6.12, so I guess every offense in the NFL and every QB was great last year! Blake Bortles for MVP!

Rube,
What is your point here?

Are you saying things are going well for the Bears and they will be successful this year?

I love Rube's logic. It's amazing every game doesn't end up 72-66 with some of these average yards per attempt!

I thought my original message was pretty clear. I guess I need to post "Cliff Notes" too for remedial readers like Veganfan.

I do think the Bears are going to do well this season. The first game was telling against GB. And to argue that GB doesn't have a pass defense or any defense is idiotic, when you compare the defense that Rodgers went against, who threw for less yards than Cutler. GB defense at least has Matthews and Peppers.

The other point is that you don't have any other option but to stay with Cutler. It's the first year of his 4th offense now and third coaching staff. All things considered, he did ok. The 3rd down conversion percentage is the most reflective of how Cutler played (66%). For most teams that number is under 50%.

Stop quoting total yardage. It's meaningless. Rodgers can't continue gaining yards after he throws a touchdown pass. The field is only so long.

If they can compete with GB, they can compete with anyone. The floor for this team is 8-8, but it's not out of the realm of possibility they win 10 or 11, if they can get some kind of a pass rush. The Bears should take care of Minnesota and Detroit, with both losing last Sunday, setting them up for a rematch with GB at Lambeau for the division title. The Bears will only get better going forward. If Kevin White returns before season end, who knows what can happen?

They would need everything to bounce right to win 8 games.

The first win comes Sunday.

Except for GB and St. Louis, the 2nd half of the schedule is now looking easier for the Bears. I hope Manning is playing for Denver in week 11.

Even Nas is laughing at your Bears thoughts, Rube.

I mean, I hope you are right but I just don't see any scenario where they win more than 6 games.

I had a dream they lost to SEA 98-7. This tells me everything I need to know about how good I think the Bears are going to be this year. My dreams are never wrong, take SEA + the points next week.

They said I was wrong on Trump, too. I wish this site were setup to take wagers. Too much pessimism here for the Bears.
