You probably just starting drinking early this weekend. :)

In terms of the Sox-Cubs discussions he is fair. I didn't say he was a baseball genius.

Hey I agree but obviously there a market for that kind of pitcher. Its specifically why the Cubs signed Jackson to what they did.

The Cubs made by far their worst move of the Theo era, in signing Jackson to that deal. I said it before he was signed. You don't sign a guy who is a .500 pitcher with a 4.40 ERA (his numbers got worse with the Cubs) to that kind of a deal. A guy who should be a 4th or 5th starter, should not get a deal over 2 years and 10-11 million a season should be the ceiling. I'm not sure Shark gets a long term (5-6 years or more) deal. He has been in the league too long and is too old to believe he is going to perform significantly better than he has to date. I think he blew it, in turning down the deals he could have signed with the Cubs and Sox. I don't see him getting a better deal.

Holy fuck! This talk of benching Sale to save him for next year...Christ bench this fucking shark because he gives the Sox no chance to win at this point.

He still will get a three year offer for over $10 a year, if he wants it.

He is more likely to sign a 1 year, $14M contract to reestablish his value.

I would be OK if the Sox signed him for one single sawbuck per year. That is all he is worth.

He's got to take the qualifying offer... Question is: Do the Sox make one? I say they don't.

If a Sox fan saw Samardzija out on the town and tried to take a swing at him, I'd totally understand.

I'd offer him a 3yr/$72 contract with incentives.

Yet Stone was on M and H the morning trying to sell that the 10 starts this piece of garbage had where he pitched at least 7 innings is the real SamardIja . If that were a Cub pitcher he'd be questioning the wisdom of sending a guy with a 5 ERA to the mound every 5th day

If they were to waive him, they would lose the draft pick they could get if another team is dumb enough to sign him after the season.

However, they only get that pick if the Sox give him a qualifying offer for next season and he turns it down, only to sign with another team. Should the Sox make a qualifying offer? What if he doesn't get a long-term offer he likes and takes it?

BTW, why does Ventura leave him out there to give up 10 runs?

Does he hate him?

72 dollars for 3 seasons seems reasonable to me for the way he's pitched. But I think the major league minimum would come into play.
