Begins his fifth season as Yankees pitching coach in 2015, his 41st season in professional baseball as a player, coach or manager…Since joining the Yankees in 2011, the club has a 2.90K/BB ratio (5,143K, 1,773BB), the best mark in the Majors over the span...In 2014, Yankees pitchers posted a 3.44K/BB ratio (1,370K, 398BB), the second-highest such mark in the Majors since 1900, trailing only the 2014 Nationals (3.66)…The 1,370K by Yankees pitching set a franchise record for strikeouts in a single season, surpassing their 2012 mark (1,318)…Their 398BB were an AL-low and their fewest since 2003 (375)...Yankees starters combined for 71 wins in 2012, tied for third-most in the Majors…For the first time since 2006, the Yankees had three starters earn at least 15 wins (Hughes, Kuroda and Sabathia)…Oversaw the Yankees 2011 pitching staff, which led the AL in strikeouts (1,222)...Served as the Chicago Cubs' pitching coach for nine seasons (2002-10)...The Cubs' team ERA ranked in the top five of the NL in three straight seasons from 2007-09…Cubs pitchers led the Majors in strikeouts in each of his first seven seasons with the club (2002-08), including a then-single-season Major League-record 1,404K in 2003 (surpassed by the 2013 Tigers, 1,428K)....Was a member of World Series-winning coaching staffs with the Cincinnati Reds in 1990 and the Florida Marlins in 1997...Began his coaching career as a roving minor league pitching instructor for Cincinnati from 1986-89, before joining their Major League staff as bullpen coach from 1990-91 and then pitching coach from 1992-93…Served as Atlanta's roving minor league pitching instructor in 1994…Was the Florida Marlins' pitching coach from 1995-97...Served as the first manager in Tampa Bay Devil Rays history, named to the post on 11/7/97…Went 205-294 from 1998 through 4/18/01…Raised the team's winning pct. in each of his three full seasons…Finished the 2001 season as a consultant to the Marlins…Was named to Joe Torre's 2000 AL All-Star coaching staff.
