I had a practice session last night and hit it ok but getting off the tee has been killing me for the past 6 weeks or so. Weather looks perfect so
happy about that.

If getting off the tee is a problem, hit your 1 iron or 3 wood. You are plenty long with those clubs and it is so important to be in proper positions for the approaches.

I worked on those a bit and they have been iffy as well the past 6 weeks. I think I got a few things figured out last night mostly centered around tempo. I believe that
my swing had become very quick on the take away and that was messing everything else up. I really tried to slow the backswing and get set up to fire through and
that worked a bit better. I am completely convinced that I am not a good enough ball striker to play the clubs in my bag and look forward to getting a new set of irons
in the offseason.

I had a bad case of this for a few rounds about a month ago, and every so often is still rears its ugly head. It absolutely screws everything up. My swing felt smooth, my head stayed down thru impact, yet I was basically shanking almost everything because I was all out of sync. It wasn't until somebody in our group told me about it that I slowed down my take away and instantly the shots were better. Hopefully that was the case for you TBone and you things straightened out.

I felt like Henrik Stenson. Love his swing but it is very quick. I need to swing more like Matsuyama, at least conceptually, and take the club back
smooth and controlled. I noticed a difference, I just have to remember to do it. When I am out playing sometimes I get caught up in the moment
and don't take the time to set a consistent routine and remember the tempo.

Good stuff at Deerfield Golf Club yesterday. Perfect weather, and a nice course. Furious and I were paired with 2 older friendly guys, one of which had some shoulder issues so his swing was....something. kinda stopped and started like Barkley, and had a hitch in his giddy up like Furyk. He hit the ball off the tee well though.

Furious was a machine. I'd guess he hit 12 or 13 GIR and drained several 6-12' putts. He shot even 80. I struggled most of the day. 96, or 94...I can't remember but overall it was my worst round in well over a month. I did have 6 pars and a few nice iron shots, but lost 4 balls and struggled to find the fairway almost all day. However it was a good time and we were both pleased to get out and play a round together before the weather turned.

Good times on the golf course w/Frank.

There was a distinct ebbing of happiness about shooting 80 once I arrived home and opened the mail, only to find my AARP membership enclosed.

I have this problem occasionally and keep an original Medicus single-hinge 5 iron around that I will swing before a round. I don't even hit balls with it, but it will break down every time if I get too quick/wristy with the takeaway. Really forces me to initiate the takeaway with my shoulders. You can probably find one for cheap on eBay.

Took a week and a half off after overdoing it on my golf trip and losing my swing. Played Tuesday in a scramble at Seven Bridges. Played well, our team came in second at 8 under. I won longest putt. Next day my back was so bad couldn't even get out of bed. Hunched over walking like an old man the whole day.

By Friday felt better, had a hockey game Friday night and decided to play Klein Creek Saturday. Back was pretty sore, but decided to go anyway. made the decision to leave my driver at home and just hit hybrids off the tee to protect my back. No range at Klein Creek so started the day 6 over on the first 4 holes. Played the next 14 at 4 over for an 82.

Yesterday took the wife out to George Dunne to try out the golfboards. They're not as fun as they look. Actually pretty tough to make turns, you really need to put all your weight into it. I was able to do it since I have plenty of weight, but my wife really struggled with it. They were fun for a bit, but by the halfway point of our 5 hour round we wished we were in a cart. Got off to another slow start and was 4 over through 5, but then went on a tear and played the next 13 at 3 over to finish with a 79, my 8th round this year under 80! Parred #18 in total darkness. ONce again left the driver at home.

I'm coming to terms with the fact that I just can't physically hit a driver. Too big a club, requires too much of a body turn. But, I hit the hybrids great. Going to look into getting a 14 degree hybrid and see if I can use that off the tee. With the 3 hybrid when I hit it great it goes about 210, maybe 215. But usually its a 200 yard club. I can get away with that playing from white tees (6100-6300), but I'm going to need at least 230 if I want to be able to score from 6500.

Got out and played Friday and was in an event on Saturday and Sunday. My struggles off the tee continue to just kill my overall game.
My partner and I came out of the box quickly on the 9 hole scramble portion of the event shooting -3 for a two man team which was
pretty good I thought. The next nine we played best ball match play, so essentially we each played our own ball. Things started
coming unglued for me on #12 where I had a four foot putt go all the way around the hole and back at me about a foot. I can't remember
the last time I did that. The next hole the other team drained a 40 foot birdie and the next hole after that I hooked two off the tee
and took myself out of the hole completely. Anyway we won the front, but lost the back and cumulative. Yesterday I was matched up
against the head pro of the course I play. I birdied the first hole and then proceeded to hit in the water off the tee on the next hole.
Holes 4,5,6 and 9 my drives were bad enough that I had to punch out to hit it on the green. By the time I started hitting the ball
a bit better on the back I was too far behind to do much. I shot somewhere around an 80 while the guy I played had a 73. Back
to the drawing board. I have one final scramble this year in mid October for a chance to win a 2016 membership for each guy in
the group. After that I am not sure how deep into the season I will play.

I three-putted from 10 feet on 18. I was pissed I didn't break 80. Greens were pretty fast and in great shape.

How'd you guys do on my hole in 1 hole, #16?

Par on 16. My tee shot was going right at the pin, only to kick hard left and end up about 10' away. Smart play was to start it left and use the slope to feed it to the hole.

One of the few holes I played well on start to finish. I missed the green left, and putted from the fringe-- probably 40'-50'-- to about 2' or 3' for a tap in par.

The pin placement on 18 was very tough.

Looks like we might have hit the end of golf season. Outlook from here on out looks cold and crappy.

Golfing at 7am Saturday and Sunday. Going to have to get out the fall gear. I have a tournament in two weeks and then I think I am
going to put the clubs away until 2016. Woke up this morning and my lower back was killing me. I am walking around pretty gingerly
this morning. Took 3 Aleve this morning and trying to get up and walk around every 20 minutes in the hopes that it finally relaxes.

Edit: This weekend will be rounds 47 & 48 for the season so I should hit 50 which I think was my overall goal.

Played in an outing at Silver Lake on Saturday and absolutely pulverized most of my drives. Into the wind, against the wind, it really didn't matter. I hit that club great. Irons, for the most part, were so-so but I still hit enough good shots that we used at least one of my shots on every hole. I won barstool for closest to the pin as well, and missed straightest drive by about 10'. Our group of 3 finished at -2. All pars on the front, 3 birdies in a row on 11, 12, & 13, and our only blemish of the day came on the 18th. 55 was the winning score, which of course was not accurate in any way shape or form. But that doesn't matter as it was a fun day benefitting a great cause (children's cancer charity), and I was very pleased to hit the ball as well as I did. I also won a nice golf rain jacket and an autographed Earl Bennett football ( ) in the raffles.

Back pretty sore all weekend but bought some back pills from the grocery store and took 4 each morning. Allowed me to swing about 75%
each day. I was hitting 1-2 clubs less with my irons but maybe in the end it is better I can't swing full. Saturday I shot an 80 with two
double bogeys and a triple. It was windy and cold and I was actually +6 going into the last hole but had to chip out and then skulled the
ball over the green from 75 yards and doubled the last for an 80.

Yesterday I just was getting lucky and was super hot around the greens. I ended up with 36-36. Besides missing one 4 footer for a 3 putt
green I had 28 total putts. Got up and down every single time from every conceivable spot. Hit a tree off the tee on one hole and the
ball bounced back into the middle of the fairway. Par 5 didn't hit the ball very well off the tee but cleared the water hazard by 2 feet.
Stuff like that. Made 5 putts outside 10 feet. Only have a few rounds like that where everything seems to go right each season. Felt good.

I cannot do the weekend, but I should be available for a 1:30-2:00 tee time on Friday. I will be working right next to the Roselle Metra station.

I'm on my own Saturday so not sure where I will play but likely early at my home course. Wanted to play Shepherds as I have some credits
sitting over there but I can't use them until October 15th. Teeing off at 7am Sunday at home.

Wasn't planning on it but took a half day yesterday to get work done outside my house and had time to play nine at the short course by my
house. Hit the ball much more solidly. Greens really slow.

Furious and I played Fox Run on Friday early afternoon. The course was in really nice shape, as were the greens. They were FAST though. The quickest I have played in this year, and given some of the tough pin placements they had putting was no easy task on most holes.

I was pretty good on the front. Hit the hell out of my driver, putted/chipped ok, but had a few approach shots get me into some trouble. I lucked out with a couple of balls staying in play so that saved a couple of strokes. Ended up with a 44 on the front, with a 6 and a 7 on the 7th and 8th holes respectively. The back 9....outside of a few decent tee shots and a par on the par 5 11th hole, it was a trainwreck and I ended up with a 52. Pretty disappointing after playing so well the first 12 holes, but such has been my season this year with one good 9 and one bad 9.

Mr Furious unfortunately never really got into a groove. I think by the 5th hole he already had two 6's and a 7 on the card, he would add a couple of snowmen later on. I think he finished at 101 or thereabouts. He did have a nice stretch from about 11-14 with a birdie and a couple of pars, but after that he continued to struggle as well. Fun times and despite being just a bit on the cool side, the weather was great. Lots of bad shots and probably about 7 lost balls between the two of us, but we did manage to end on a nice note where we both stuck approach shots to about 15' on the 18th green. Moral victories was something we would gladly take at that point of the day. We were stuck behind a 3some, but still managed to finished in just about 3-3.25 hours so that was good.

Got out for 18 on Saturday and played 27 yesterday. Loved the weather. 77 Saturday and 79
yesterday with a double and triple but 4 birdies. I have about had it with my driver and I only
hit 6 greens yesterday. Thankfully I have been putting and chipping better than I have in years.
Only 28 putts yesterday and 31 Saturday. I play this Wednesday at Erin Hills so really looking forward
to that. Last week of golf for me this season.

Great time at the fantastic Highlands of Elgin yesterday with Furious. The golf wasn't spectacular, but the weather, course and company were.

Played with 2 guys who slowed down the entire course. At one point our group was 25 minutes behind and causing a 2 group backup on every tee box. One guy was a good golfer, but would stand over his ball for over a minute before pulling the trigger. And he was walking which didn't help matters. His buddy was in a cart and he was awful, nice guy, but awful. Took a long time to hit his ball too, but mainly cause he was waiting for someone to give him approval that it was his time to hit. He was pretty new to the game I would assume.

Had the kind of inconsistent day I would expect after not picking up a club for 2 weeks. Parred 8 holes, 3 bogeys, 3 doubles and 3 triples for a 91. Considering my all time low at that place is a 84 I wasn't surprised to be in the 90s. 5 3-putts, but also drained some nice sized putts. Left the driver at home and wasn't as sharp with the hybrids as I usually am, sent 5 of them OB.

Calling it quits for the year, no point in playing anymore if I'm not on top of my game which is impossible playing 1x every couple weeks. Fantastic season though, best I've ever had. Later I'll give myself my end of the season report card (spoiler alert, its an A)
