Been awhile, so hi folks.

But I need to make amends for so vehemently defending the Bears organization. I tried like a son of a bitch to find the bright side and vouch for Emery, Trestman, and Cutler. Optimism poisoned the kool-aid I dared swill so recklessly, and I drank deeply.

Clearly after this...this thing of a season, the result of all that optimism is a putrid, acrid-smoking tire fire that can only be extinguished with thousands of gallons of money (and feces). I should've known better than to consider the Bears a well-oiled organization with a solid outlook and sound plan. I'll never be making that mistake again.

I'll never stop cheering for them to get their shit together, but they have forever lost the benefit of the doubt. I don't really know why I ever gave it to them.

Anyway, hope you're all doing well and have a great Christmas. I'll probably post around a bit until I crawl back into my Bears Depression hole for an offseason or so.

Welcome back, Dewskie.

Hopefully, the Mccaskeys will do the right thing. Doubtful but it's nice to hope.

Thanks. I was "back" last year but then left again, and I may do the same now. I dunno. It just depends on how much it sucks.

The Cult of Personality around Ditka made them virtually powerless as owners, and they didn't like that feeling of not being in control.

If you listen to Vainisi, et al, they tell the story of how McCaskey set Ditka up for failure over a span of years.

The Bears suffer from the same thing that a lot of companies, countries, and institutions worldwide do: In order for things to ever really change a lot of the right people need to die.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... I dislike Cutler as much as the next guy, but he has young kids. Let's not get crazy.

North took some shots at Joniak. Band, vanilla, does enough to be decent, doesnt upset anyone, doesnt make it a great broadcast, some stuff for 17 years...PERFECT FOR THE BEARS ORGANIZATION.

Simple, do you think the Cowboys, Patriots or even the Jets....would allow this on a CONSTANT Basis.

The Cowboys and Jets are virtually the Bears. The Cowboys won 3 titles in the 90s because Jimmy Johnson was a goddamn genius and didn't let Jerry Jones meddle. Jones and Switzer won another title with Jerry's players. They have won precisely dick ever since, providing Bears-like mediocrity and meatheaded fan hysteria aches for the cocaine-fueled days of yesteryear.

The Jets are even worse than the Bears. They've been consistently mediocre-to-bad for decades now and their drafting is just abominable.

ehhh i dont think buying into the trestman/emery era was all that horrible through 2013. emery came in and brought in marshall who was really nice at first from 12-13, and that 2013 bears team had an offense that made josh mccown millions because marshall and alshon were a thing and if the ball bounces a few different ways in that week 17 packers game (or they call delay of game on the packers' final drive) maybe they enter the tournament with a hot offense that's needed because the defense is good for giving up 30+ a night.

of course whatever window that bears team had ended in 2013 (and if they had even a decent defense they're prolly a playoff team at best hoping for an eli-type-run) and since then, yeah, after the top end picks of kyle long and alshon there was a lot of bad and trestman wasn't equipped for anything beyond giving a glimmer of offense to lovie's team in spirit, and when it ceased being that *farting noise*

c'est la vie, no?
