I enjoyed dinner on the dime of my other half's employer last night at David Burke's Primehouse.
1) I do not eat downtown very often
2) I'm not wealthy enough to eat downtown very often
3) I love steak

I had a great meal but was not inspired to go back with my own money and splurge again at a future date. Only place I can compare is Gibsons. Gibsons was miles better IMO.

Curious on the opinions of others.

Been there 3 times. Agree, its a very good steak, too high priced, but if your going to be in the price range, the other options are just better.

Notice that on any given Friday night you can get tables there around 9 or earlier without a problem , cant even get a table at the better places weeks in advance.

I've been there a couple times for lunch -- they have like a prix fix steak lunch for $27 or something like that. or at least they did. waren't overly impressed. I would hope their $85 a la carte steak would be better.

I've been there a couple times. Had Caveman Steak & Eggs both times. A huge ribeye and scrambled eggs with big chunks of lobster. No sides really necessary. I like it better than Gibsons. Although nothing beats Gibsons for people watching.

I know the sanctity of a Chicago Only Place is being broken, but I am a Capital Grill fan...and would rather be in Hugos bar than Gibsons. Gibsons gives me the creepers.
