To state the obvious, it's a bit of an overreaction to skewer Fox like this. I think the Cardinals, a good team with three years of continuity at the HC spot, put up 34 points on the defense. The other 14 are on ST and Cutler. They got their asses handed to them, and that will happen from time to time. Nothing in Fox's record suggests he's incompetent.

This isn't on Fox. It's a bad team, bad on most levels. The best thing going right now is the o line and RB. Other than that the rest is terrible.

B&B reminded me to say this.

Fox seems to be a pretty bad gameday coach. He made two or three Trestman like decisions.

We basically fired Trestman for doing the same thing that Fox did on the game winning field goal.

He struggles with the whole time outs thing.

I think Fox is a better coach than Lovie, but not by much, and anyway their strengths and weaknesses are essentially identical.

except that Fox hired two of the highest regarded coordinators in the NFL. not saying he will succeed but Lovie never did that. he was the d coordinator.

well, one for two ain't bad.

There appears to be a huge improvement in coaching. I like it.

During the Presser, I counted only 50 times he said "You Know" in ten minutes.

Penetrating insight, as usual.

I don't think Fox is a great coach, he's better than milkdud no doubt.

The mistakes that Fox has made so far this season are the same things he did wrong in Denver regarding time management, conservative play calling, etc. Yesterday was really bad. Worst of all, he's not flexible that he can't adapt to changing circumstances on the field. Who the F doesn't go for a two-point conversion to tie the game?

It doesn't matter if the Bears lose the next 10 games and get a 3rd or 4th slot pick in the 1st round next year, if we have a dummy head coach who is going to give away games all the time. It looks like we're in football hell for the next four years, because the McCaskey's sure as hell aren't going to dump Fox.

There's no way out of the situation, unless, heaven forbid, Fox suffers another heart attack.

The conservative play calling with 2:30 left in the game was awful.

I'm also starting to doubt the "Great coach from Monday to Saturday" thing.

A well coached team beats how the Lions played by 25 points.

What was thinking with not stopping the clock near the end of the game with the Lions on the doorstep of taking the lead? There's no excuse for that. Then, he decides to accept the 10 second run off. Why? There's no justification for that decision making.
Those extra seconds would've allowed you to take some shots to win the game as opposed to play for the tying FG.

I just keep thinking back to that Denver - Baltimore game where Fox didn't go for the win and instead was happy to go into OT even though he had OK field position, two timeouts and Peyton Manning.

Yes we're better prepared as a team and yes we look like a more professional team on Sundays, but damn, a conservative approach on gameday is infuriating. Playing not to lose rarely if ever works, yet coaches (mainly in football) continue to employ that philosophy year after losing year.

Personally I don't think Fox will last four years with the Bears, not because the McCaskeys will dump him, but because he will retire. He is already getting fed up with the pressure cooker that is the Bears head coaching job in the second largest NFL market. I think ultimately he will decide for health reasons he has had enough. What would the impact be on him having two losing seasons? Even a coach in his prime years would have a tough time withstanding the week after week punishment of getting grilled.

Coaches dont just walk away from $5 million per year. Plus, the beloved will be much improved next year.

Six wins with Cutler and 'Gase the Great" calling the plays.

He should be fired just for winning only one game at home. Even Trestman did better than that.

Yeah, the Bears are headed in the right direction, NOT. You lost to both he Lions and Vikings twice!!

When has that ever happened? Not in my lifetime.

Actually, I think it happened last season too under Tress. So what does that tell you about Fox? He's no better than Trestman.

The Bears are in football hell with no end in sight, until they launch Cutler.

I thought so too but they actually beat Minnesota last year.

They have been swept by the Lions the last 3 years though.

So they got that going for them.

Supposedly Langford injured his Achilles. Even if he's a boot next Sunday I bet he gets the start over Howard.

What the hell have they seen from Langford to give him MANY carries over Howard?

Giving Matt Forte $3M could have made a difference.

Mully and Haugh noted this morning noted Fox was very non-committal on coaching in the Senior Bowl. They mentioned that's where the Cowboys staff who coached last year got a good look at Dak Prescott and "circled his name".

I would be mad at Fox but this hire was so obviously a retirement job designed to give his kids a bigger inheritance I can't be mad at him.

I'd force him to coach next year and call his bluff.

I went for a good, long walk after the game on Sunday to listen to final post game shows of the season. OB put all the blame on Fox.

I like OB and even Hampton sounds better when they are teamed together for "that kind of show". The booth gets a little crowded with Koz, who went through this year's draft and gave it a failing grade. Independent national sources have several of the Bears rookies as top picks from the draft but the great Koz was giving them Ds.

If the Bears were attempting to win down the stretch, Fox should 100% be gone. Howard was a badass down the stretch that no one could hold under 5 yards a carry. Yet each game would end with him getting 17-18 carries. The Bears were 3-0 when Howard got 25 touches, 0-13 when he didn't. How this team didn't get off the bus running blows my mind. Meanwhile Barkley had 14 ints.
