That third line is a turd. Bickell-Shaw-Baun

http://www2.dailyfaceoff.com/teams/line ... blackhawks

I thought we were past this point of using Shaw at Center...fuck.

 Gotta love it. Puck hasnt been dropped on the first night and already complaints about Qs lines.

I am curious to see Hammer and Daley on D together. Paired with Hammer might be just what Daley needs to be pretty good.

I gotta imagine they're trying to spotlight Bickell and talk someone into taking him and a portion of his salary. I know Stan doesn't like to eat salary or dump players for nothing in return...but in this case, it looks like a necessity.

I also don't see that third line lasting more than a few shifts...that's just ugly.

Worst 3rd line since 2011 and why is Garbutt on my hockey team? Fire Q and Bowman immediately.

You'd think people would have learned at this point that Q's lines don't mean shit. It'll be completely different by the 2nd.

Is it a requirement to have an "A" in your first and last name to play for the 2nd line?

It's mostly the idea that they're having Shaw play center. I usually don't bitch about Q's experimenting...it's more surprising than anything.

I never liked the Q line juggling. But at this point, anything Q does is pretty much beyond second guessing. He's earned it many times over.

You're right he's a drastically better wing than center.

By thread title I thought Kaner had gotten into a little trouble with some yayo.

I agree. Hjalmarsson should be a good safety net for him. It kind of reminds me of the Hjalmarsson-Campbell pairing that worked so well in 2010 (and so poorly in 2011 when Hjalmarsson went on his two-year trip to the moon or whatever that was. Not entirely a coincidence that the Hawks' two worst playoff exits came in the two years that Hammer forgot how to play, then went Cup-WestFinal-Cup when he remembered).

Funny how there was all this rejoicing about getting Anisimov and finally having a #2 center. Now Shaw is playing out of position and we don't have a #3 center. Six of one...

I don't think they'll be a trainwreck. I do think the Blues will, though. What I do think is that they're not going to be able to start hot and then check out at New Year's like they have the last three full seasons, because if they do that, they're in real danger of getting trampled. It's going to be a tight race like it was last year. I mean, swing that late-March win against the Jets from a regulation win to a regulation loss (like many Jets games were) and the Hawks finish eighth in the conference and play Anaheim right away.

yeah they are not going to be a train wreck this year. They will have a decent year. There will be ups and downs. CH will be proclaiming them dead and the championship window shut many times over.

They will make the playoffs and then see what happens.

I am not expecting a Cup this year, but if things fall in the right manner who knows.

I think now as in the past we have to evaluate the Hawks after a month and go from there. With hockey turnover you need to see it together for a while in real games.

This is where I am. I don't think there's a Pacific team strong enough to keep the Central from sending five, so barring disaster or the Stars not getting scored on once per period, the Hawks should be in. I think it'll be Anaheim-Calgary-Los Angeles in the Pacific and then crap the rest of the way down. I can't sort out the Central at all.

Hawks will not be a trainwreck. They're still one of the favorites to win the Cup.

I think it's Anaheim's to lose. I don't see a weakness there.

You are going to keep us updated on the hawks while we watch the Cubs.

I'll be in the UC bouncing back and forth from my seats to the TV out by the bar.

That seems wasteful. If you want to sit at my house and watch the cubs game and give me your ticket so I can watch the Blackhawks it sounds like we'd both be happy.

I'm going to DVR the Blackhawks game, watch the Cubs game in its entirety, flip to the Hawks during breaks, and then watch the banner festivities later.

I can't say I won't flip and might watch some of the Cubs. It's intriguing.

Let me think about that one for a moment...
