Not once during the whole game did I know if anybody was up in the Cub bullpen. Both the "color" guys were putting me to sleep with their low droned voices. It makes you appreciate the local guys a lot more.

My wife said I was surprisingly calm.

Now the pressure is off a little bit. I still will be nervous but it's best 3 of 5.

Camera angles sucked, on a check swing There is only one angle to show..the first base line or 3rd base line depending on righty-lefty.

Coverage was brutal. Announcers were brutal. Johnson, Darling & Ripken are all bad. Not as bad as Kruk & Tits McGee, but bad.

That is odd as they show it all the time for homers during the regular season.

Pitch Trax was way off.

The broadcast was very slow to move from the batter to where the ball was headed. You couldn't tell how far a ball was going to travel in the outfield or see how an infielder played a ground ball. They didn't show good replays, notably on the Russell throw out at 2nd. They went right to commercial without showing the replay.

That's what I thought as well.

Also, agree on the not having a camera shot of Schwarber's homer landing. But, then, maybe it never did.

I hated the coverage but I did chuckle at this exchange -

Ripken: "Ron, what would you be thinking if a pitcher threw you a 2-0 changeup?"

Darling: "I'd be thinking - how is this guy in the league?"

Yeah funny bad in many cases. Terrible production, although their HD quality was top notch. Can't wait to get a 4k HD tv.

I don't recall TBS games being so dreadfully produced and called like last evening's was.

yeah it'd also flash up on the upper left bug/dog/score-thingy, but it only showed up right after the pitch.

personally i was just like "wtf?!" with dusty baker being there... and then that "HERE'S THE TALE OF THE CHICAGO CUBS' SEASON AS TOLD THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA" montage was facepalm-inducing.

i like pedro and he's cool in my book, but he's just kind of a bloated cheerleader of an analyst. still he's pedro and he gets a pass cuz midgets and expos and pedro.

truth be told the most annoying thing was every local network doing 30+ mins of bonus coverage showing off the odd conglomeration of people hanging in the middle of the intersection of clark and addison (my grandpa was like "didn't they just win one game?") and all of the local news people (ABC/NBC/CBS/WGN/CSN) kept a near-steady camera on the place as if to say THAT'S THE PLACE TO BE YA MONGS WHAT ARE YOU DOING AT HOME?!?!?!?! hell WGN even had their weather bug camera at the cubby bear show a time lapse of the place.

honestly i wanted to catch the first segment or 2 of colbert b4 i passed out so i had to watch it from a stream from buffalo.... c'est la vie. i'm surprised local buffalo news wasnt running 30+ mins late with BREAKING NEWS: THERE'S A RAPIST ON THE ICE IN CHICAGO tbh

OLED. Stay away from 4K.

I thought the broadcast was terrible but I liked the postgame, except you couldn't really understand Pedro. Dusty, in all honesty was good and I liked the Ernie Johnson knockoff they had holding it together.

As it turns out, if one was wondering, the terrible box graphic from TBS made pitches look much, much worse than they actually were ... from http://www.brooksbaseball.net:

Image

If there's something to be gained from all of this, maybe it begins the movement away from having that stupid fucking box on the screen constantly.

I thought it was obvious in real time. Matches and I were going back and forth about it during the game in the game thread. I watch a ton of baseball, and never have I seen pitches so far from the box. The scatter chart was too spread out to be correct at least relative to the other pitch track systems.

I felt it was obvious as well; this is simply offered as objective data to justify the subjective assumption.
