I hate the intent to blow rule. They should get rid of it and just have the whistle govern when the play is dead. The way I see it, if a ref loses sight of the puck under a goalie and intends to blow the whistle, but the opponent has time to score a goal in the tenth of a second it takes the ref to raise his hand to his mouth then logic dictates that the goalie never had the puck in the first place. So who are you protecting with the intent to blow? Goalie safety? No one is going to mutilate a goalie in a tenth of a second.

Intent to blow rule? I suppose that's what Kane invoked as he had his way with that young lady. I'm sure she 'intended' to blow him, if you ask him. How tone-deaf can the NHL be?! #notmynhl
