I hope he does well, but he had a distinctively Benson-ish rushing average after Cedric got hurt today.

That being said it was an awesome football game to watch. I think a lot of fans were too busy pissing on the Bears to notice. It's not destined for ESPN Classic, but definitely game of the week, well the SF-ARI game was a thriller too.

He's better than Benson, and, if we're trying to win games, play the better guy.

He was given a chance today and averaged 2.6 yards/carry. Awesome!

Are we judging Peterson by one game or are we going to judge him by Benson's standards, which is to give him game after game ?

I know I'm not suggesting Peterson is the answer, but I think he's better than Benson.

Hard to criticize the backs with the terrible line, but there were times when Peterson got to the line and just fell down or got tackled right away. Broncos don't worry about the backup running back situation, just get the o-line going and they're good.

You're saying Peterson has had only one game in his entire career to demonstrate his worth? OK. He is an adequate backup, nothing more. Saying that he's better than Benson is like saying you'd rather be hit in the head with a shovel than an ice pick. In the end, neither option is attractive and the difference between the two is likely negligible. The Bears will have a new starting running back next year.

That's if you hope the team has any sense. Odds are, if Rex keeps on playing at a mediocre level, that he will be back and Benson will be back.

My Dear Internet Friends,
Is it too early to start talking about a wild card? Saturday this team was as dead as a doornail and today, their playoff hopes are alive. I do not buy it. Can the Bears beat The Giants and Washington? Minnesota and Green Bay? Somehow I have my doubts, especially now that Peterson is leading the ground attack. I do not feel he is equipped to handle 25 touches a game for 5 games. And even if they do get into the playoffs, will they be competitive?
Your Dear Internet Lover,
Evil J.A.C.K.

i agree. it would have been very hard for Benson to be pushed by a group of five huge men into the end zone.

Especially if he's laying on the ground!

Did anyone check the Denver papers to see what they're saying about kicking to Jesus, oops I mean Hester?

How can you say that? Peterson didn't do ANYTHING until the lineman literally picked him up and threw him into the end zone. Garrett Wolfe did a better job, and Garrett Wolfe is the size of Gary Coleman.

Comment seen in the Denver Post:

Not that the defense was to blame for the Broncos' latest loss. This just in. When you kick it down the middle to Devin Hester after he has already burned you for a touchdown, you deserve to lose.

and here's Woody Paige's take:

Is there anyone on the planet that didn't know the Bears would run up the middle right before the 2 min warning in the 4th?

I don't think so....

Score is reporting Benson is done for the year with the ankle injury.

I couldn't tell if my eyes were playing tricks on me while watching the game. Either Denver's left tackle had several false starts not called (the one on the Hall screen pass for the long play comes to mind) or he is the quickest offensive lineman off the ball in NFL history.
