It takes a special organization to take so much accumulated talent and just find way after way to mitigate or outright destroy any chance of it finding a fruitful conclusion. Plus, I wonder how faux racist DC email reads.

Bad hire, reminds me of Cubs hiring Piniella. I was hoping Guillen got the job.

He'll have Jeff Dunham make a dummy for him to use.

you know, when i got into baseball i chose vladimir guerrer and the montreal expos. i made the right choice even tho 1) my team got taken away after 3-4 years and 2) everyone loves to give me shit like HEYYYYYY EXPOS!

here it's more of "admit it, you're a cub-hater/mets-fan [brick putting in work yesterday but confrontation is his schtick]" but on IRC i got people trying to tell me "hey, you're a natinals fan" and it's to the point where i dont even acknowledge it cuz the troll persists no matter what i say....

...but when i said it, i said it like this: imagine you're a cubs fan and MLB conspires to get them moved out of chicago, so they gut the team (i.e. trade the top gems in the farm system for a 1/2 season rental of bartolo colon when you're like 5-10 back of the wild card, and you end up being buyers and THEN sellers in the trade deadline stuff cuz by july 31st you're out of the wild card race that you're in) --- AHEM, then they do that weird vlad-less year with a bunch of games in puerto rico, and then they re-emerge as the washington nationals. so imagine the same shit happened to the cubs and then after they trade off bryant/schwarber/arrieta (b4 they make the bigs / win cy young) they become the louisville turdburglars..... and then you see someone walking down the street in a turdburgulars hat.... are you gonna be like HEY WE SHARE A COMMON BOND: MY TEAM!!! or are you gonna be like MAN FUCK THEM!!!!!

i went with the latter, and everytime i see those dunces in the walgreens hats i just hope that they NEVER get a title, no matter how close they come. and now that the natinals have dusty fucking baker in there, man, he can go give russ ortiz the world-series-winning game ball again for the lulz (go figure no less than THE ANGELS did the lord's work in denying dustball his title) and you just know it isnt going to work out for them, and i'm glad.... cuz while i grew to dislike the inevitability of the royals this postseason, man, i really hate the natinals and if they can get all the way to game 7 of the WS and choke it away with DUSTY BAKER making it happen, man that'd be fucking awesome.

sure i'll chortle at the cubs but i dont str8up hate them like the fighting walgreens. sometimes when i was bored when the nats were in town i'd expo up and go hang out around wrigley b4 gametime and heckle natinals fans as ZOMBIE BASEBALL!!!!! UNDEAD ZOMBIE BASEBALL!!!!! and at least once i had to run from a big ripped (muscular) black dude who didnt take too kindly to the good-natured-ribbing. thank god i knew all the back alleys and he didnt, eh?

SO WELCOME TO DC, DUSTBALL! THANK YOU FOR DOING YOUR PART TO ENSURE THAT THESE GUYS DONT WIN SHIT OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS! if you lot wanna see me become a cubs fan have the cubs play them in the postseason. i'll lead the fucking refrain of go cubs go!

The other thing that sucked about the '03 Expos and the wild card was that the rest of baseball didn't allow them to make September callups for budgetary reasons. Yeah, those financially backbreaking month-long callups, you know how it is.

Then a few years later, we got to watch the opposite of a league engineering a team's failure when the NHL bought the Coyotes and engineered their success.

say what you want, but Dusty will win and get to the playoffs. Assuming it is truly a crapshoot from there on, chances are 50/50 he wins a WS.

I'm perfectly happy believing he'll be part and parcel of why they will not win anything, which is particularly meaningful given the Cubs' presumed presence in the WS race.

The downside with Dusty is that he’s widely regarded as a less than spectacular game manager who is really weak when it comes to the pitching aspect of the game. So my read is that if Baker has a strong bench coach and a pitching coach who maintains considerable authority, he might be a good fit in Washington. If that’s the case, this could be a good team that contends in 2016, based on the roster that is currently in place.

not going to argue what makes a good manager, but I do know he wasnt a good anything here. That includes clubhouse manager.
