Ok, if you had to vote for one of these who would it be?

After last night, I'm leaning towards Huckabee.

Though I question his remarks about the Civil War, I tend to agree with more of Ron Paul's positions. He seems like a fairly reasonable & honest enough guy. That he isn't a packaged, blow dried 'Politician' doesn't hurt either.

Yea, I felt he was pretty honest and wasn't afriad about it. My problem is his honesty scares me on his ideas about the middle east. I don't think we can think like that Post 9/11. Without 9/11 I probably would have really liked his thoughts.

He was pretty much a lets get the hell out guy, right? While complete abandonment of the area is fairly foolish on a number of levels, it has long been time to change US course across the board over there. But then again, with Abu Dhabi investors putting billions into Citibank, somehow I don't think a change is coming anytime soon.

I lost most of my respect for McCain after he got neutered in So. Carolina in 2000 and pretty much just took it.

Me too. I was pretty bummed McCain just kind of backed down to the clueless yet well supported G W.

Although I did find it strangely ironic that his return to consideration for higher office got a nice boost from Obama 'just taking it' and delievering a slobbering apology to McCain.

I need to rethink my reputation here. I am more than a simple pothead. I have thought, and dreams. And I have a nagging cough. I have thoughts and dreams too.

That's exactly what I was thinking Nas. For as much as we disagree, I'm surprised we agree on this.

Will vote for (in order of preference):

Guiliani
McCain
Thompson
Romney (maybe)

Will not vote for (in order of preference):

Paul
Huckabee
All the other people

The only realistic nominee in the "no way" list is Huckabee, maybe, and in that case I'd very likely vote for Clinton. If it's Obama v. Huckabee or Edwards v. Huckabee, I'll vote Libertarian.

If it's between Hilary and Giuliani, I'll vote Darkside in 2008 as well.

Obama is my choice, but I doubt he'll get the nod.

That's the real problem for me. You can't seem to get elected without selling yourself out, thus once elected, you become unelectable (to me). That's why I long for congressional term limits. However, I don't give Congress any chance to vote themselves out of office.

Yea, but for me Huckabee believing in evolution isn't going to make or break my vote. It's not like some crazy law will come out of this belief. To me, that's not important.

As disgusting as I find that, that's only the second most offensive thing about him, a ways behind his support for the Fair Tax.

His stance on abandonment of Federal taxes is rather amusing to me personally. In my youger, more intellectualy inquisitive years, in a luxury of academic setting, I yammered that the tax system should conform to the system in which the governments funded by such taxes are elected. Therefore, since the chief executive of the federal government is technically elected by the states, such states should be the bodies making payments into the fund used to pay for the expenses of the federal government. This will also provide for greater accountability on all levels. The small audience I had made fun of me.

The only problem with that argument is that we live in Illinois, and I could see the Fed foreclosing us out for nonpayment, as it would take three years to get each annual budget passed.

The Flanders Brothers, Rod (Blago) and Todd (Stroger) have fucked Chicago and the 5 collars up so bad that I think this last 3-4 years might go down as the worst in Illinois history.

I hope Rudy gets the nomination for the simple reason I'd be interested to see the effect of taking what I'm assuming is a large number of single issue voters out of the equation.

In most cases I'd hope for someone like Ron Paul, someone outside the mainstream yet politically experienced, to show well just to shake things up, but his being a Libertarian makes he hope he gets 0% of the vote.
