+/- was developed for hockey and it's largely bullshit in its own sport. How could it be a be-all-end-all in basketball?

It is used as one of the go to metrics for those that believe in analytics.

If Kyle Korver became effective, no reason McBuckets canr be made into something very useful in the NBA. Same thing with Mike Miller. Both has very limited D ability.

That is my entire point. He can be hidden on Defense like a number of guys are hidden on D. Last night's game was a perfect example of why guys like McDermott have to play. The Bulls had a stretch where they went 1 for 17 from the field. That happened at the worst possible time of the game.

That has happened far too frequently in recent yrs. They need guys that can score and McDermott can do that.

Korver is a better shooter than Doug, he is also quicker and has a faster release.

No way. Quicker release maybe. Better shooter, but no way Korver is quicker than McDermott. McDermott is a much better athlete than Korver. When was the last time Korver made a move towards the bucket? Middle school?

McDermott looks big, beefier than Korver.

He is bigger than Korver but he is a better athlete. McDermott can get the bucket with more ease than Korver. He is a better leaper also. Korver is a slightly better shooter, but he is easier to defend because all he does is spot up for 3 pointers. It's one of reasons he struggles during the playoffs. Teams take it away and he doesn't have a plan B. McDermott can do more than that offensively.

When was the 1st time Doug cut to the basket? His ass is parked outside the arc

McDermott has attacked the rim a little. Back door cuts and floaters type stuff. You never ever will see Korver put the ball on the floor and make move towards the bucket.

63 players have taken 27 or more threes this season.

Doug McDermott is the only one of those to make more than half of his attempts.

He sucks though. He is only playing because Paxson has mandated that he play. You must not screw around with the narrative by posting facts.

How many threes does he give up? At what percentage?

If he were to score 40 a night, and give up 50 a night, is he a good player?

more than half of his makes have come against 0-7 Brooklyn, 0-7 Philly and 2-4 (one win against the Bulls) Charlotte...Tony Snell is 13 for 27 from 3 pt land so far this season, Jimmy Butler is even above 40% from 3 pt land so far this season...competition, or lack thereof.

When future HOF Langnston Galloway takes his next shot he will be around 60% what the hell does that mean? Nothing

Etwaun Moore good. McDermott sucks.

Lance Stephenson. Got to have em'. Carmelo Anthony. Loser.

Tyrus Thomas= Bobby Portis.

Chandler Parsons. Love em?

Do you detect a pattern in all of this.

Is this supposed to be sarcasm? I don't think many people think of the word winner when they hear Carmelo Anthony.

Is Joakim Noah also a loser? What about everyone's favorite future MVP Anthony Davis?

My only reason for bringing it up is that we conveniently heard about not wanting this guy, but wanting that guy.

The Melo battle has been waged ad nauseum. Don't necessarily wish to rehash that one.

My only point is that guys really haven't been called out for some of this stuff. These guys keep questioning the basketball acumen of the "LTG" yet they keep coming up snake eyes just about each and every time.

I don't care how much losing the Melo guy has done in his career. (Made the playoffs first 9 yrs) No one with any semblance of a basketball brain would ever suggest they'd rather have Lance and not Melo.

Now we go round and round about Etwaun Moore. For the record every time I see the guy he is running around on the corner, yet someone he is running the point guard slot for the Bull.

How is Etwaun a "contributor" and McDermott "McSuckage". Does that somehow equate.

Also why I'm running this stuff down I was also correct about Taj Gibson. He really does look like a guy that can start on most teams, doesn't he?

When he gets some meaningful minutes he produces on offense. He's always going to get beat off the dribble but you can live with that if he's getting in done on the other side of the court. And that's not to excuse poor defensive play. In a perfect world everybody would get the job done on defense. Hell, I'd settle for effort from everybody on defense. (Rose gets torched quite a bit.)

The problem with Doug is only magnified when it's him, Gasol, Mirotic and D-Rose out there. That is a recipe for disaster and can't be allowed to happen too often.

I agree and that's one of the reasons I want to see Noah starting. I would rather have Noah/McDermott starting as opposed to Mirotic/Snell. I am a Mirotic guy but he is not a starter. Best suited for 6th man.

Noah is not a scorer but he does everything else. Plus he and Gasol make it difficult to score around the rim.

I know not everyone agrees on basketball analytics, but here's something interesting.

McDermott is second in the league for true shooting percentage and third in the league in effective field goal percentage.

He still sucks though. How dare these statistics contradict the narrative? How dare he start in front of the likes of Etwaun Moore? How dare he prove the great Tom Thibodeau wrong? Pure blasphemy I'll say.

I actually wasn't in favor of the pick but I watched him during that first summer league and I changed my mind.

I also looked at guys drafted later and I don't see any really being much better. If someone can definitively proclaim that a guy drafted later will be better then cool, but right now I really don't see it.
