Looks like Houston got Matsui for 15/3
Good. I like DeRosa just fine and he's got a better OBP. I didn't understand the interest in Matsui in the first place, except for the switch hitting part, which is an overrated quality.
Still need a lefty RF.

I thought they were looking at Matsui as a way to lure Fuk-whatever from Japan.

The lure to a Matsui compared to DeRosa is the speed element. Matsui would have stole 20-30 bases a year. They'd hit for roughly the same average.

I heard that 20-30 SB's a year was one reason the Cubs paid Soriano so much as well.

Consider yourselves lucky. The Matsui resurgence was a product of coors. He hit something like .235 away from home.

I'm glad they didn't. I can't wait for the Matsui/DeRosa thread that Nas starts next year.

I agree with the Coors theory on almost every player ever. Remember Mike Lansing? of course B Bonds Flaxseed oil helped.

Still, I need some speed up top in the number 2 or 1, that does lead the team in Double Plays hit into like my man DeRo!

I have this feeling we are in a bad bad bad area right now similar to the end of the Sammy ERA , when Andy would not let us sign anyone until we unloaded Sosa, then the only guy left was Jeremy Burnitz!

If this sale thing gets so screwed up and they freeze everything over there, then we are screwed.

The recent Salary dumps and he ticket price increase, point to someones back pocket at this point more than anything!
