They cant look any worse than last night's festival of suck so expect an effort worthy of the Q ass chewing I'm sure he gave the lads. Everyone sucks except the second line . Hard to hate Vancouver anymore, Dan and Henry are about all that's left. Its a cold , snowy night so pull up a chair and some Ponzi wine and enjoy the best sport going with the world's greatest athletes.

Canucks have the worst logo in the history of sports. 2nd is the NY Jets.

Really? That's the best you can do? A fuckin' hockey stick to make a "V" for your city's name? Then you wrap a "C" around it. What the hell?

They still have Burrows, Edler, and Hansen, but yeah, not quite the same. Gillis and Benning really did a number on this roster, huh? I mean, sure, hard to get much for Ryan Kesler when he'll only let you trade him to soft gentle Anaheim, but the Luongo, Schneider, and Bieksa trades were all big losses.

The Canucks have redesigned their uniforms and logos four or five times and looked stupid every time. They're the Astros/Padres of hockey, right down to getting to their sport's championship series and shitting the bed.

I want to know the name of the peson who designed this logo. Then I want to know the people he presented it to to where they said "Yeah, that's awesome!!!!!" Who the fuck would come up with something so simple and boring?

sooooo CH, seeing as you're awesome at shit-talking NHL cities for being laughable places to live/visit/exist and all that....what do you have to say about vancouver the city/metropolis that makes us feel better about living in chicago on this cold and slippery night where it's flagrantly obvious that humans were designed to live in san diego (in terms of the weather, not the culture/city itself) ???

Vancouver seems pretty awesome, actually. Mild temperature, cosmopolitan culture, plentiful high-grade weed if you want it, and single-payer healthcare. I met two girls from Vancouver when I was in Denver this summer (nope, couldn't close the deal with the brunette, guess it's wait-till-next-year for me unless the rainbow-filtered profile picture of her with a girl meant she's a lesbian) and cemented my impression that Vancouver and its people are cool. One told me that while Vancouver proper is indeed pretty great, it's the suburbs you have to watch out for, which get a little methy. She said Surrey in particular was bad.

I think the only drawback is that cost of living is terribly high, hence the exodus of undesirables to suburbia. I think all the new money is also what made so many Canucks fans so insufferable when the team was contending. Spoiled rich kids who had never really had any sort of shared suffering because nobody even gave a shit about the Canucks for years. Like Winnipeg and Los Angeles, they spent the '80s/early '90s as Calgary and Edmonton's shared doormat, which didn't help. But think about how people always talk, however fallaciously, about teams as reflections of this town and that town's "hard-working, blue-collar, lunch pail" fans. Can you do that for Vancouver? Everyone works in a highrise and lives in another highrise!

So yeah, Vancouver is fine, except for all the Canucks fans.

yeah i have a friend who went ex-pat when he met a chick from plenty of fish, met her, fell for her, then moved to vancouver to be with her as he quickly married her and knocked her up in no particular order.w

obviously the weed is what it is, and i guess meth is everywhere semi-/rural around north america since it's relatively easy/possible to make (when's the last time you heard of people making heroin or cocaine out of cough syrup?) and its effect is like a dirtier form of cocaine all ratcheted up, yeah ppl will go for that cuz i guess it does have some bang for the buck.... but there's no reason to want speed if you can get coke or heroin.

i do remember him telling me about a 2-3 block "red light district" where there's heroin and the cops kind of know what it is and dont fuck with people too much unless they go around causing problems, not to mention we're all fans of hamid karzai and friends so you can look at it as helping to follow up on fixing afghanistan after our liberation of them, let alone all the bastard/ish kids who need air jordans and stuff. so yeah while vancouver does have the veneer that you talk about there's some seedy underbelly there, tho it's such a go-getter of a modern city you only have to go to the suburbs for your meth utopia as opposed to going fullblown rural.... how progressive! walter white helped it to become a "blue state" in every sense of the word!

doesnt a lot of american (let alone canadian) TV film up there too? i reckon there has to be a little b-grade hollywood feel cuz you figure a lot of the stars of the CW at least have working-season-homes up there, and probably every third waitress had a guest role on smallville or izombie or something at some point. i reckon a lot of TV jobs along with the dream of getting noticed probably helps the yuppie factor too, eh?

Funny, I used to talk to a girl from the AIM chats who moved from the Seattle area to the Vancouver area to be with a guy. The guy's a textbook neckbeard, the girl is cute but kind of a slob in the way girls who play video games and watch anime all the time are slobs. Deceptively nice set on her, though. Missed opportunity. Too bad I didn't like anime more.

Yeah, every shitty Lifetime/Hallmark movie is taped in Vancouver or Toronto because it's really cheap and they look like generic big American cities on bodies of water. The catch is that you have to use a certain percentage of Canadian cast and crew. Canadian media is big on cultural protectionism like that; they still have rules for radio about how many songs or minutes per hour are done by Canadian artists. I think it's the only reason the band Metric exists.

4 goals on 17 shots. That is not a good percentage.

Bad night for the Hawks around the NHL, too: Stars win, Jets win, Wild win, Blues get a loser point.

Sedin hat-tricks.

I only have the ice tracker so I am looking at numbers. Is Crow shit tonight allowing 5 on 18 or are these unstoppable shots from defensive lapses?

Well, that was a thoroughly disappointing pair of games.

All of my friends who live there hate it. A rundown crackden sells for over a million there so it's basically impossible to live there.
