We always have shrimp and some cheesy crab dip for an appetizer.

Menu is pretty much the same: Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, homemade stuffing, cranberries, rolls. Usually a pumpkin pie and a Strawberry Rhubarb pie for desert.

Change in plans for this year is that I was supposed to have Wednesday off but am being forced into work. My family will be out of town and I will be going to my sister's house for dinner. Where I can expect my Mom to lecture me that "You have to drive home.....slow down on the drinking !! "

WHAT IS THE POINT OF RYE BREAD WITHOUT CARAWAY SEEDS?

Our menu has been pretty set for years:

Turkey
Home made stuffing ( with pork sausage, in the bird, with extra in a casserole dish)
Gravy
Potato Dumplings (I make them, my dad made them, his dad made them, his Bohemian mother-in-law made them)
Sweet Potato casserole with pecan topping, recipe from my late sister's in-laws
Indiana corn casserole (with bacon, butter, sour cream, celery & bell pepper)
Green bean casserole (my sister-in-law bring it in an itty bitty dish, I never eat it)
Cranberry Jello Salad (cranberries, raspberry jello, crushed pineapple, pecans, frosted with a mixture of cream cheese & sour cream, Grandma's recipe)
Pumpkin Pie with whipped cream

All plied with copious amounts of wine, etc.

My wife's stuffing is potatoes, sage flavored pork sausage, onions, and fresh sage. #Glorious

Some is in the bird, some is in a casserole dish.

I cannot think of anything more abhorrent at a Thanksgiving Day feast than Pumpkin Pie, Green Bean Casserole, or LOU'S. You might as well slather mayonnaise all over the turkey, and then shoot yourself in the face after dinner.

Mashed potatoes and gravy is generally excellent. And my Mom also employs the breakfast sausage into the stuffing.

I love green bean casserole. I've never seen it made with cheese but I'd definitely eat that too.
Mashed potatoes are a must! How the hell do you not have mashed potatoes. And I love gravy as long there is not chunks of mystery giblets floating in it.
I also love the stuffing.

No thank you on sweet potatoes, but I like most sweet potato pie.
Turkey is a necessary evil, I suppose. It's not that good, imo, I'd rather eat ham every day.

Hawg, if you want to hang out with less felons than at the dolphin household, you and the kid are welcome at my house. I'm cooking, and I will drive you over to see mcbrides while you are here. If you bring any form of cranberry sauce, I will send you right back where you came from.

Order yourself a farm turkey...don't do that store bought shit. #15milesfromWisconsin

if you can manage a duck, it's a great turkey side.

we also do gravy, but that's understood imo. turkey without gravy is like...hell, it's like hell.

Totally agree. We have been buying organic farm turkeys for a few years now and they are tasty as hell.

And gravy is a given.

Pecan pie is terrific! So is pumpkin pie with "Cool-Hwip".

Turkey cooking tip that will all but guarantee a tasty, moist delicious bird...

Stuff cavity of turkey with oranges cut in half.

Works great in any poultry but is ideal for turkey because of the longer cooking times.

Trust me on this, guys. I learned it while cooking in the Navy. Works every time.

Hawg...ham is for Jesus.

If you brine your turkey, it's all delish.

My fav is late night of, or next day reheated turkey. once the gravy turns into a gelatin and you can scoop that jiggly cube of goodness on your to-be-reheated turkey bits...

add some salt, little pepper, maybe some other spicey shit.

fucking great.

This lack of disclosure is borderline Sheenian.

My grandma and my aunt used to switch off fucking up the turkey annually as a kid.

My mother in law makes it where it's palatable, and I like all of the sides that go with it...

Luckily, this year, we are missing Christmas Day with my family, which means palatable turkey, but god forbid we have something else
