Lance Lynn had Tommy John surgery today and will be out for the 2016 season.

Guessing they have to go after an arm now.

This is great news for the Crew, their strikeout numbers will go down by about 60 with missing 4 starts against him.

That's not how they operate though.

Im sure they'll replace him with some homegrown 35th rd pick that will win 16 games

Twins acquired C John Ryan Murphy from the Yankees for OF Aaron Hicks.

Damn. This probably takes Gary Sanchez off the market too. Like this trade for the Twins. Good young catchers are hard to find. Would have loved to see the Sox trade Trayce Thompson for Murphy. Wake up, Hahn.

that seems crazy to me. 1 year at $15M? I would guess he could've gotten 4 years, $60?

Had to figure he'd accept. Not sure why Houston made the offer in the first place. They could have resigned him to a 1 yr deal at a lower amount. Guess they have money to throw around down there.

I LOVE Newcomb but it's getting more and more difficult to figure out what the hell the braves are doing. Why not keep Simmons? He's 26 yrs old, signed to a very reasonable contract and oh by the way......he's the best defensive player in the game at the most important position on the field. If you can't build around him I'm not sure who you can build around. It's getting to the point where they are making trades just to make trades.

Estrada is going to re-up with the Blue Jays on a 2 yr deal. Not sure why they bothered with the QO either but whatever. At least two teams won't be getting draft compensation for players who didn't deserve it.

Matt Wieters has accepted the QO. That is surprising. With the lack of catching out there you would think he would have been able to land a multi-year deal from a really desperate team. He'll try for that big contract next year at age 31.

Brett Anderson accepted the QO also for a grand total of three. Teams got a little too frisky with the QO's this year though I doubt the Dodgers will care too much. They can afford to wildly overpay bad players.

With Estrada resigning with the Jays and the three guys accepting the QO there are 16 possible compensation picks to be awarded. .

Why are these guys accepting, especially Weiters, with Boras as his agent? It seems hard to believe that these guys wouldn't get that same money, if not more, on a multi-year deal.

Dumbo is going to have a field day with that Red Sox minor league system. He's never met a prospect he couldn't trade and he wasn't shy in this trade for Kimbrell. The one step up two steps back philosophy is strong in San Diego.

Wieters could have received a multi-year deal but he could get a much better deal next year if he proves he's healthy. He's coming off Tommy John surgery and played only 75 games. Lets say he'd get a 3yr/$40M deal this year. If he has a healthy productive season he's looking at a 4-5 yr deal at $75-$90M. He's betting on himself while picking up a cool $15.8M this year. Not a bad gamble.

I don't think teams were going to give Brett Anderson a multi-year deal with his extensive injury history. This was the first year he's made 30 starts in a season since 2009. He's pretty good when healthy but it's just too big a risk. If he does it again he'll get paid next year and the Dodgers can afford to overpay him on a 1 yr deal.

Rasmus sucks and never should have been offered the QO. Houston got greedy hoping to get the draft pick and got burned. Rasmus jumped at the offer because he knew teams weren't going to offer him anywhere near that kind of money. $15.8M for that piece of crap. Sheesh.

K-Rod to the Tigers, the crew get an infielder and saves them about 9.6 million.

Zimmermann's deal with the Tigers looks to be 5yr/$110M.

The first domino has fallen and it's a biggie. Good deal for both sides. Detroit obviously needs pitching and Zimmermann might be the best long term bet of the bunch. $22M per. There's your jumping off point boys. Get goin.
