i will say this though: how many neofeminists are going to jump on the "purple man made me do it" bandwagon for rape charges? he said "i know you want me to have sex with you", she said yes, but she was "under an influence". meaning drunk sex = rape.

The frightening thing about Kilgrave, after all, is we see people who act like him and get away with it all the time in the real world despite the real world not including genetic mutants with psychic abilities. People who, despite their failure to emit infectious brain-altering viral particles into the air around them, are able to make other people do horrible things. A guy who crowdsources sexual assault by making random calls to fast food restaurants pretending to be a cop and instructing managers to strip-search female employees. One deranged troll—who went to prison and got a swastika tattooed on his chest—can flood a woman’s inbox with death threats by making up blatant, obvious lies that an angry misogynist mob wants to believe.

And, of course, in the case that feels most eerily parallel to Kilgrave’s motivations in Jessica Jones, a vengeful ex can systematically destroy a game developer’s professional reputation, social network, and overall sense of safety by writing a blog post designed to push all the buttons that make gamers angry, sparking a massive culture war that’s still going a year later. As Rowan Kaiser put it in an early review of the first two episodes of Jessica Jones, it would be fair to describe Kilgrave as a “living, breathing harassment campaign.” He is a guy who sees the whole world as a game, himself as the player, and everyone else as nonplayer characters—and he is willing to try over and over again at the game until he wins.

The future holds the possibility to be great or terrible, and since it has not yet occurred it remains simultaneously both.

Season 2 dropped yesterday.

No idea about the plot or anything but I enjoyed the first season so high hopes for this one.

now that it's all wrapped up, and i've watched the 3rd season completely, the show had real promise and a great first season. but after that, it was very uneven.

i didn't like much of the second season; i thought the subplot about trish wanting to become powerful was OK but i just didn't really care much for the character. the villain should have had a lot more strength than what wound up happening. and jessica's droning narration started to wear on me.

ditto the 3rd season, although the villain was much stronger. there were some nice psychological elements. but it took *4* episodes before it started getting good. and talk about stretching and padding the run time...there was an episode that was almost 40% just a repeat (literally) of the previous episode.

the acting and production values were all good, and trish's character was a little more ironed out in this season. but i still just don't find her that interesting. malcolm was always my favorite secondary character, but even his subplot seemed a bit unfulfilling.

best and surprising character was gillian, jessica's new receptionist. yes, it's "good for the narrative", yes it's progressive as hell. but she's a good actor and should be given kudos for that. great character too.

so if you're a fan of "jessica jones", the third season is still worth watching. but there are a lot of dead spots to endure.

I am not a legal expert, how many times do I have to say it?

I stopped watching these Marvel shows a while ago, but always liked the JJ series. I decided to jump back in and started up Daredevil season 3 last week.

The main issue with these shows is they are way too fucking long. 13 episodes, most over 50 minutes is ridiculous and IMO the reason these shows never succeeded.

So, what I do is fast forward through at least 20 minutes of every episode if not more. If a scene is slow or not going anywhere or going somewhere I can already predict I just fastforward. When watching DD I always fast forward through any scene that involves Karen or Foggy. Also fast forward through a lot of Matt Murdoc scenes if they are boring. I've basically succeeded in reducing these series from 13 eps to about 8.

After I finsh DD3 I'm gonna do Punishser season 2 and then wrap it up with JJ3. A big fuck no on Luke Cage season 2 and any of the Iron fist garbage.

Daredevil is worth a watch. It suffers from the stuff you guys talked about already, but it at least is entertaining and has solid villain(s).

If these shows were 8 episode seasons, they'd be great.
