So my guys!

Where should I target in the west or NW burbs to wait out for BCBS? I was out of town last year and got it with no wait at a liquor store in Iowa City. This year I'll be home.

I better find my guy over there in Bloomingdale.

I really want the variants. I know I can always get the standard online cheap I bought a 4 pack of 2013/14 (2 of each) for 40 last year.

If I liked stouts, didn't have a baby, and didn't hate waiting in line for beer, I would join you.

I'm not sure if I've said this before or not, but I would never stand in line at 6 am for beer.

Dress warmly, and bring a fold-up chair.

I will wait in line for an hour to get my hands on some BCBS.

I'm sure this has been said in nearly every forum where BCBS has been discussed, but this year's Prop and Rye variants don't sound very good.

Every variant comes in a 16.9 oz bottle.

You can just sign up through the online health insurance exchange now. You don't have to wait till Black Friday.

I'll likely stop by DiCarlo's in Mundelein tomorrow and see if they have any left. I won't be waiting in line tho.

They were gone well before noon. Probably more like 9:30.

I decided to not wait in line, and I'm glad I made that decision. My friends got to Binny's in Naperville just after 6:00, and were not able to get everything they wanted.

I slept until 10:30, went into one of my spots at 11:15, and walked out with five bottles (four BCBS, and one BCBS coffee). Instead of napping this afternoon, I replaced the rotors and brake pads on my truck, at my buddy's house.

I arrived at the Binny's in Bloomingdale at 9 AM - was checking out at 10:15 with 2 regular and 1 barleywine. Was told that the line at 8:30 was around the store and only the first 8 people got the rare.

The Mrs picked some up for me at Cardinal Liquors around 5pm on Friday. The weather was shitty and I had both kids so I wasn't about to bring them out in that for booze. Not again at least.

Found some this afternoon at United Liqours in Chicago Heights. You'd be surprised at what you can find at a liqour store where most beer geeks don't go to.

You can find the regular BCBS around, but you won't get any of the variants, if you don't get there early.

I already said that Regal and Prop sounded pretty gross this year, and a lot of the early reviews I've seen have been negative. Coffee's great but has become too much of a pain to acquire IMO, especially with the format change making it limit 1 at most places. The barleywine is always fine, but I think Straight Jacket is better and much less of a hassle.

Last summer some friends and I did a tasting of every variant that had been distributed up to that point and far and away the top 2 were the original Vanilla and Bramble. It's kind of a bad look when the two oldest variants easily beat the rest of the field.

Two of my buddies tried all of them at FOBAB, and they said that they were all fantastic, especially the Prop. And these guys are as snobby as beer snobs get. They love to say that a beer isn't all that. They rate beers lower than I do at untappd.com

I get not wanting to wait in line, and this whole Black Friday thing is getting out of control, but there was no hassle at all for me. I was on a list, he called me on Wednesday, I strolled in on Friday at 11:15, and left with five bottles, including a coffee.

Don't trust reviews. People have strange axes to grind, when it comes to beer. Two or three years back, I waited in line on Black Friday, and came away with a good haul. I was talking to a bartender later that day, telling him about my score, and he spent ten minutes bitching about BCBS. He said that there are five barrel aged beers on the shelves at Binny's that are better than BCBS, yet he was unable to name names.

I have yet to find a better beer than any of the BCBS releases. These are top notch beers, that live up to the hype.

It's just the opposite. These beers are supposed to get better with age. That's the whole point.
