Especially on Price.

Buster Olney - So the Red Sox wound up paying $140 million more for David Price to be their ace than they offered Jon Lester in spring of '14.

I assumed he get 200 mill, That Zimmerman deal looks great for Detroit. I'd have thought Zimm would get 150 million.

Cubs gotta get Cueto, I don't care if it costs 175 million.

Is Olney implying that the two are equal and the money should have been the same?

Cueto's durability has to scare you when plunking down long term money. Greinke's age and stability are concerns. Price was the right guy to go all in on.

I sure don't think there's that much difference.

I'm liking what I am reading about the braves willingness to part with Shelby Miller or Julio Teheran. Both of those guys are young, have pretty good stuff and are contract-friendly. I'd rather the Cubs deal at this point than pay these crazy salaries. I think Miller is under team control for 3 more years, and that guy can pitch.

I'd rather have Miller than Teheran, but Teheran would cost less. I'm intrigued.

The Red Sox do

like we have heard with Avila, this is a team with intimate knowledge of the player and they let him walk while apparently having the money to sign him if they had wanted

217m for a pitcher over 30 is indeed insane.

Putting my Bernstein hat on: how quickly will the whiteys in Boston turn on Price if he doesn't perform?

Holy hell not sure anyone saw this coming. Grienke is getting 6yr/$195. That's an AAV of $32.5M. It's hard to say the power has shifted in the nl west but it made a sizable move. If they get Archie Bradley going that's a nice 1-2.

Edit: he's getting $206M. That's an AAV of more than $34. Holy crap!

Nothin wrong with that, D Backs have just as good a shot as Dodgers..its why I never had questioned Melo decision..Knicks have just as good a shot as Bulls.

This is great for the Cubs, gets the NL west up for grabs.
