Only 5 Lions in the endzone and they all got boxed out on that final play.

yeah, for years now i've taken to yelling out DUMBASS LIONS when they get extra generous.... and if anything that's a 5yd facemask (but i can see how it looked like 15 in real time) and then that "don't cover the tight end" formation was just..... yeargh.

if they'd have trotted out that bears DEF where everyone lines up at the goal line and somebody is standing up front that wouldn't have happened, but when i saw rich-rod getting up in there in front of 5 guys i was like ohhhhhhh shit.

and of course the ball was 2-3ft away from james jones, who at least got me 1-2 fantasy points as my team in the nasleague continues its exit from the playoff picture. maybe i can lose on another yahoo stat correction this week to rub it in, eh?

Once again the referees make a bad call that affects the outcome of a game. The Lions defender never grabbed A-Rods facemask on what was at the time the last play of the game. The penalty gives the pack 1 more play and they score to win. NFL referees have never been worse. Something must be done. Every penalty in the last 2 minutes should be reviewed.

he didn't grab it, but he did get a thumb in it and some slight yankage...isnt there a 5yd incidental facemask or something? i'm thinking that was a pen but maybe not the 15 grab-n-yank that we're accustomed to.

again, i can see how it looked like a proper 15yd facemask cuz gay-rod's head turned in the direction of the thumbing and it looked like a 15yarder in real time from the decidedly not-on-tv-angle the refs had. keep your hands out of his face and you win the game you DUMBASS LIONS!

that said it'll be like 42-17 detroit or something later this year when the bears' playoff express can see the wild card station.

Should of been a 5 yard penalty but definitely a face mask penalty.

He never grabbed A-Rods facemask. He grazed it. Never grabbed it.

If anyone is fixated for any reason whatsoever on a completely understandable call in a game where Detroit essentially had the game won around halftime, that's just sad.

Wanting more reviews is about the dopiest football thought yet.

Well, Rule 12, Article of 5 (entitled Grasping Facemask) of the NFL Code of Player Conduct states as follows:

GRASPING FACEMASK
Article 5 No player shall twist, turn, or pull the facemask of an opponent in any direction.
Penalty: For twisting, turning, or pulling the mask: Loss of 15 yards. A personal foul. The player may
be disqualified if the action is judged by the official(s) to be of a flagrant nature.
A.R. 12.12 Third-and-10 on A30. Runner A1 runs to the A33, where he is tackled by B1, who incidentally grasps A1’s
facemask on the tackle, but it is not a twist, turn, or pull.
Ruling: A’s ball, fourth-and-seven, on A33. No Foul.

The only other rule that addresses it is helmet to helmet collisions.

they blew a 20 point lead. The Browns and the Lions have really stepped it up this week in prime time to highlight to the world why they are the Browns and Lions.

Pretty sure they took that part of the rule out a few years ago. It is either 15 yard facemask or nothing. BY RULE...that was not a facemask. That said...what a stupid play....instinct reaction I know, but GB had no prayer doing laterals all the way down the field,...so really stupid "penalty" (even though it wasnt). Was Mega-tron in on the final Hail Mary play???

This is a good view of the throw. So high it almost hits what appear to but can't possibly be championship banners.

Just after the announcers renamed it the "Hail Aaron" play, they wondered why Megatron wasn't in on that play.

Ugh. At least the offense looked legit with Jim Bob Cooter running the show. Stafford was 19 TD, 2 INT over the last eight games.

Caldwell is popular with the players. Perhaps this was done to keep Calvin Johnson playing.
