The fact that you would want to be in a game that involves killing something, that is kind of your thing.

Witcher 3 has now set the bar. Bethesda is a leader in WRPG.

This should be fun.

I expect it to be amazing.

Fallout 3 was good, albeit slightly repetitive, but fun and makes me want to take a shot at this one.

Hopefully, and this should go without saying, I hope that rat bastard Liam Neeson stays dead.

The main character will be voiced now. I wonder who voices the male and female versions.

They have to get an AAA actor (or voice actor) I imagine. I cannot tell who voices the small part at the end of the trailer.

Smart money is on Nolan North or Troy Baker.

Bob from Niles should do the voiceover.

It is impressive that a video game series could make me get so pumped when listening to music from The Ink Spots

First review is in and its not that good, 3.5 out of 5. Basically says its the same game as Fallout 3 with no innovations in gameplay or storytelling. Says its like going back in time and playing a game from 2008.

That certainly isn't the first review. And it is the only negative one. (One of two**)

http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/fallout-4

I don't expect the game to be better than The Witcher 3. But it should be extremely fun.

edit: There are also a few other 90+ scores I saw, like Gamespot and Joystiq, that aren't on Metacritic yet.

New Vegas was better but this is still pretty good. I'm playing on XB1, but I'll shell out for the GOTY edition for PC when that time comes and bathe in the mods. I wouldn't be shocked if a year from now I'm calling it better than NV because of the modding community. The settlement system is a lot of fun and the possibilities are endless, I was pleasantly surprised to find out I could find books that enabled more building options (which were already pretty robust) so I figure this will only improve even in vanilla. OTOH I see it getting a little tedious with the REPEL RAIDER/SUPER MUTANT/PSYCHO MONGREL ATTACK.

Just send me out into this world and let me establish settlements, having them suffer from actual threats (one machine gun turret will mow down anything less than a Deathclaw). Eventually as my empire grows more difficult to control and manage they'll rebel.

Diamond City is fucking hilarious and awesome.

Anyways its the best game since...Fallout 3? No not really but it's great and I look forward to dropping over 1000 hours of my life on it.

At some point in the game you are sent on a fetch quest to get a brewing machine for a bar that is serving some awful swill. Well, said machine is actually a converted Protectron who is the 22nd century equivalent of the Beertender. He'll brew you some fresh beer, make your drinks ice cold, and tell shitty jokes.

Game. Of. The. Year.

So I have two playthroughs going right now. A stealth/rifle VATS build with a lot of level invested in SPECIAL stats. This is the more traditional "see as much as I can" character.

But then I got this smoking hot ~110 lb girl who is maxed out in endurance and strength, carrying just enough luck to grab the Idiot Savant perk (which meant I had to sneak halfway across the map to get the Luck bobblehead). Her name is Beadie, and she only uses a ranged weapon if absolutely necessary. I also cant remember the last time she was sober. It was her and Cait running around the Commonwealth as lesbian lovers knocking people's heads off with baseball bats until I accidentally did the quest where Cait goes clean. She stopped approving of Beadie's party lifestyle so I left Cait at some podunk settlement out in the middle of nowhere to farm tatos. Since then her lesbian lover has been Piper, who seems to tolerate the permanent drunkeness and drug-induced fits of murderous rage.

Beadie beat a Diamond City guard to death outside the city walls without anyone noticing and since then has been running around with a modded 2076 World Series bat, dressed like an umpire literally knocking everyone's head off. She has a heart of gold though, and unless you're standing between her and her next (or more aptly, continued) high she always does the right thing.

Easily. Since the SPECIAL system revamp it's actually much easier to pick up than FO3 or New Vegas.

Yes. I don't know if it is easier to pick up though. If you've never played anything like this, it'll feel daunting to be dropped into the world with very little direction on where you should go or what you should prioritize doing first.

But it is fun to have the same mission marker for a week straight simply because every time you jump on to play, you discover new map markets with hours and hours of additional, engaging gameplay that distract you from your waypoints.

Just don't expect your first character to be the one you finish the main quest line with.

the Idiot Savant perk

Don't know if this was in 3 or New Vegas but it's my favorite perk in 4. I put a lot into Intelligence in my first character so it hardly ever procs but when it does the payoff is great. Especially love stumbling into a group of ghouls and the first kill gets me the tier 3 buff that gives me bonus XP for each kill after that for a short period of time. I've gotten 500+ plus XP just from killing a small group of low level enemies that way.

My only complaint with the game thus far has been that getting my Charisma up to 21 didn't seem to have any impact on bartering versus being 10 or 11...
