Word from those in the know in NY (no, not Scooter Libby) that the dump is being evaluated for North. At least they appear to finally realize that just maybe the goal is NOT to pay a salary equal to or greater than the ratings. Also a bit embarassing to be the laughing stock of the radio industry.

A rumor that you started at lunch with a few of the station's employees. (ie: low level salespeople) Start job searching yourself, dumbass.

Maybe it was McCain...he's against torture of any kind, thus undoubtedly supportive of the end of the North fiasco

Maybe the Score has a diminished skills clause.

They can pay him to stay home and not pollute the airwaves. Write off a bad contract and move on. If he signs on any other station, they subtract that payment from what they owe him. Contracts work both ways. He will collect his money from them, but he can't work on the air anywhere else. Buyout of remaining years is the only way.
Please remove this failing, old loser from the air. I'll send in some money to help in the buyout effort.

From a guy I know who works with a broher of one of the guys who knows Mike from a local Taco stand said something about Mike's contract being with infinty and not WSCR, meaning that they can place him anywhere.

I think they failed to take inot account Mike would run WBBM-780 for $1.5M

Now, if he ran 780 AM I actually might listen to 780 AM. LOL or at least I would give it a shot.

As much as many of you may not like North, he is one of the two or three best hosts at the station. If he were to be released from the SCORE the talent level of the entire station would be greatly diminished.

For the amount of money they pay him he needs to be the best at the station. There is 4 day time shows at the Score. So being in the top 3 is not a big statement dolphin.

I look at it kind of like I look at my sports teams. I don't care what people are making because it is not my money being spent. The only thing that affects me is the overall quality of the station. Take North out of the weekday lineup and look at the steaming pile you are left with. There is only one semi compelling listen on the entire station (B and B), and they have to go up against the #1 sports show in the city.

Ironically, gd, you are correct...unfortunately he is one of the "...best hosts at the station." What does this say about the quality of personnel currently on staff? How about bringing in someone who realizes that the purpose of radio is to provide a forum or entertainment for an AUDIENCE. North is done. His 15 minutes of fame is long past and he is responsible for his own downfall by a total failure to recognize what brought him prominence in the first place. His record is one of continued and expanding shameless self-promotion. It's actually remarkable that his run has lasted as long as it has. Thank goodness Infinity has finally apparently said enough.

I agree with you. Except I have a higher opinion of B&B, and consider North to be a substantial part of the steaming pile...

Mulli has all the makings of a great show, but if you look at what they have done with the guy a total waste.

Bring him in to the Telander disaster show, about 2 months after the Titanic set sail, then Telander quits and the show has no purpose, plan, timeslot, etc.

So they come up with 2 hours after North with Hanley? Hanley isn't bad.

I agree with North on one thing, the Newspaper guys don't have the time to work on the show outside of the show, thus nothing ever really happens entertaining (i.e crapping, friday fun, trivia, etc., but I wonder what Mike's excuse is?

Well, he kind of has to. Gets about 40 minutes of actual air time and although Hanley is a good reporter and knows what he is talking about, doesn't really bring anything to the table to keep me listening.

good sources have speculated that the "north is done in july" rumor has got legs. anybody know if that's his anniversary date, or something in his contract that would backup the july deadline?

where does one find such a rumor? What's the source?

I/We/Them are all for it, but to say that they are looking 8 months out already is more planning than the station has ever done since the inception.

First of all, Boers & Bernstein are NOT good radio - they are a couple of unjustifiably-condescending fags that think they are smarter than everybody else and they have a cult following that sucks their dicks and allows them to continue on with their faggy "I'm a weak 'lil pledge frat boy" antics.

As for Mike North, he is a Chicago Icon now, and the ad revenue he brings to the station more than pays for his salary. What you UberNerds do not understand is that the people that post on this site are computer geeks and represent a just tiny, tiny percentage of the Scores actual listening audience.

A real Chicago guy would kick your fucking teeth in!

Which is just a tiny, tiny percentage of the Chicago radio audience. A microscopic number ranking right around the low power gospel and Polish stations. To blow 50,000 watts on these ratings -

So B&B are bad even tho they have high ratings - but North is good with low ratings? you must be Score MGMT - Thanks Mitch!
What's that you say Debra Pickett? Oh, okay: "A note about last week's column: In writing about radio personality Mike North, I described his morning show as "one of the highest rated" in Chicago. I didn't want to print a specific ranking, since new Arbitron ratings were due out last week. Now that those numbers are out, and, given that North's show doesn't even make the top 20, my characterization looks quite silly. My apologies for the vagueness, which is exactly the sort of thing that happens when a public radio geek tries to pretend she knows something about what's on the rest of the dial."

Most Chicagoans have never heard of Mike North. The same goes for Boers, Bernstein, Mac, etc. Jordan, Payton, and Ditka are icons. North is an AM blowhard with a small market. And I seriously doubt the HOBO, Marconi, and Dr. Godam Gupta ads are covering his excessive salary. If they were, he wouldn't be doing all of these low-class reads personally.

Moron.

Psssssst...... Hey Bud. You forgot to EXCLUDE YOURSELF from the computer geeks comment. The real computer geeks are off playing online games and making green cash money doing it. So how much did you get paid for calling yourself a geek, Geek? So long Mr. Maroon, I'll be back in another 6 months.
