For the record, I own NO Blackhawks gear of any kind...

While I love the Jerseys, almost feel like you should be a long time fan to wear one....thus I dont have one.

I would purchase a hat, not against it, but just not wearing that many hats these days...

Think I did look at winter hats, but none really that warm for post gym workout, except those parka like hats which dont do so well with sweat head.

Bought my nephew the Horn though...figured my sister would love that....especially when he cant stay awake for those late games, wakes up at 5 AM and watches...

See Shakes, I fully understand my place in the pantheon on the millions of new Hawks fans...

the real question is...among the 3,000 that went to games in the 90's...how did that number become 500,000?

Banner raising was cool.

Seriously though, and I know it isn't for everyone, but I operate under the "One title/multiple title run is enough" theory.

Get one, be happy forever.

Just need a Bears one, and then I can simply wait until I die while my college team never wins anything.

I wasn't old enough to remember it. I was 2 years old.

I have no problem with the logo'd gear they're coming out with. That Stanley Cup hot air popcorn popper would be pretty cool in a man cave bar. Bought the wife and I matching Blackhawks onesies last year...they're pretty hilarious.

Ha! Now, maybe things have gone too far...a Blackhawks yarmulke?

I heard someone say they suck this year. Is this true? I don't understand hockey standings.

We were so good last year I think. How could they fall apart?

Toews and Kane make more money against the salary cap now, which required the Hawks to trade away Patrick Sharp for a crappy defenseman and a fringe-NHLer forward. Toews has not played well at all for a #1 center and is probably injured in some way. Many players have underproduced. The kill percentage has gone up a bit over the last few days because they got to get fat against Winnipeg and Vancouver, but before that the team was not killing penalties all that well.

That said, they're in second place in their division for the moment, and have a friendly chunk of the schedule coming up to finish out December before the Hawks enter their customary country-club mode in January.

I like how CH likes talking about hockey so much that he will even reply to all the people trolling the sport and the Hawks in a serious and educational manner. Think what you want about CH but when it comes to hockey he definitely has the fire and passion.

I just had this really cute fare from Arlington Heights to Northbrook and she got in just talking about the Blackhawks. She said "we" and "us" a lot in reference to them. I tried to see if she cared about other sports, but she didnt.

I tried to remember something CH said but I failed and she slipped through the cracks.

One of the frustrating things about this season is the apparent weakness of teams throughout the league. There isnt really a team out there that's proving to be a front runner. One could argue Dallas, but i dont see their goaltending allowing them to make a serious run. The "regulars" of PIT, BOS, WAS, even MTL, and TBL are all kind of just floating in their divisions. The Hawks' troubles are the result of some patchwork that keeps them from being able to play consistent winning hockey. Its a shame too. Because even with the stacked Western Conference, this would be the season to steam roll.

Yeah, this could well be the most parity-filled season in quite some time. At the other end, the Blue Jackets and Maple Leafs aren't even that bad, and no one really believes the Ducks are going to languish in last place forever. With the McDavid/Eichel derby in the books, there's no reason for teams to bottom out. Bad teams seem to be taking a "let's ride this out and see where it goes" attitude.

To use an example that most sports fans would understand, we are like if you took the Spurs and Warriors and combined their teams, and put skates on them.

I think he should be in the conversation, but Seacrest disagreed. Keith does so much so well so consistently that he should be in permanent "ah fuck it, just give it to" consideration like Nicklas Lidstrom was for about a decade. Alas, the finalists will probably be Erik Karlsson, John Klingberg, and P.K. "Hey, Some Of My Best Montreal Canadiens Are Black" Subban.

The Norris Trophy really goes to "defenseman with the most points" these days. Weirder still is the Selke, which is supposed to be for best defensive forward but is really "who is a first-or-second-line center who scores a good amount of points but one would think ought to score a little more," e.g. Toews/Bergeron/Kopitar until further notice.
