Holy Christ the D'Bags gave up Dansby Swanson. He was the first damn pick this past year. Stewart and LaRussa are bat shit crazy.

Selling the farm!

Jeff Passan Retweeted Nick Piecoro

Dansby Swanson was the No. 1 overall pick in the draft in June. Scouts absolutely love Aaron Blair, a power righty.

Jeff Passan added,

Hearing from multiple sources Ender Inciarte, Aaron Blair and Dansby Swanson are involved in the Shelby Miller deal.

with the Mets adding Cabrera and Walker, I wonder if there is a trading opportunity for the Sox for Wilmer Flores

Phillies acquired LHP Brett Oberholtzer and RHPs Mark Appel, Vince Velasquez, Thomas Eshelman, Harold Arauz from the Astros for RHP Ken Giles and INF Jonathan Arauz.

Stunning. All that for a closer with 115 career innings pitched and not a single meaningful save and a 17 yr old SS. This is the best thing that could have happened for Appel. He needed to get out of that organization. The Phillies have made some really good deals. They may not be down and out for long.

IIRC appel busted out pretty badly and only started to turn it around in the minors last year (~3.50 ERA or thereabouts? nothing OMFG GET HIM UP HERE ASAP!!!! good, but still not what you wanna see from the only guy in the world drafted higher than babe bryant) so while he's got name value in this trade, it's not like houston gave up someone 100% commensurate with value of a #1 overall draft pick.

seeing as tony sipp basically cost them the series against the royals (they had KC dead to rights in an elimination game b4 tony done sipped em) i can see the logic behind getting a nice reliver like giles in there, as he was a studly setup guy before being a good closer (after "papelbum" left) and seeing as houston's pen cost them a playoff series, yeah, i can understand the logic of making this move even if it ends up being a !!!! thing cuz of the mark appel name/brand appeal.

if appel gets his swag back with the phillies you could have something good starting to grow there cuz i think that aaron nola can pitch, and they had another kid quietly tearing it the fuck up at the end of the season (and had me rue-ing the day i cut him from my championship fantasy team b4 the playoff roster lockdown) ---- what the fuck was his name? jerad eickhoff methinks?

if eickhoff is the pitcher we saw down the stretch last year and nola develops and appel can be even 75% of that !!!!!MARK APPEL BITCHES!!!!! guy that he was supposed to be, that's pretty damn solid 1-3 in the rotation as you enter "the maikel franco era" in philly

Earlier on B&B I heard them discuss what a delight and nightmare a Cubs-Nationals NLCS would be.

I've been discussing/arguing with a Cub fan at work about this team. He has already called Jostens for a World Series ring.

Mike Avilas signed with the Tigers.

19 more games to terrorize the Sox. Why the hell can't this prick sign with a team outside the AL central.

that is a guy who's stats, which look good at the end of the season, belie the player he was

Mike....today this guy told me that Schwarber will be the NL MVP next year. He's predicting he'll hit .300 or better and drive in around 130 runs. Wow.

It's been a rough off season for the Dodgers. Kazmir isn't the top of the rotation guy they need to pair with Kershaw. Maybe they can swing a trade for Fernandez or Odorizzi. They have to do something else because right now it's Kershaw and a bunch of blah. Kenta Meada isn't the answer either. I have no idea how that guy has stayed in one piece this long.
