I was gonna make a lame Champaign-Urbana joke, but it would have been one Hanley, max.

Champagne starts around $40 per bottle. Costco has a Kirkland Champagne for $20 that is good, I think its made by Moet.

Moët and Chandon is reasonable about $40. Otherwise just get Rossi Asti At $12.

Right, dude. And Kirkland vodka is actually Grey Goose and Kirkland Bourbon is Maker's Mark. I'm waiting for some Costco zombie to tell me there's a Kirkland car that's actually a Mercedes Benz and a Kirkland bike that's a Canondale.

RPB, you can get an Adami Prosecco di Valdobbiadene or a Roederer Estate Brut for about $20 a bottle. If you want actual Champagne, the Veuve Yellow Label is good for about $50-55.

My wife is a big fan of Prosecco Sparkling wines...still has the cork that pops, but they run 10-15 a bottle. Neither one of us care for champagne, but with that stuff she is actually a happy drunk!

champagne interrupts a good night of drinking

It makes me angry and causes me to do things

Google Kirkland Vodka...then do a taste test with it and Grey Goose.

It's champagne. You will have half a glass after a night of drinking other things. Who cares what it tastes like at that point.

By the cheapest shit you can buy.

So mostly what people serve is actually sparkling wine and not technically champagne, right?

I was thinking about drinking a bottle or two and making it part of the drinking main course

If it says Champagne on the bottle it's Champagne. That isn't to say that there aren't good sparkling wines made elsewhere like prosecco, cava, or a Californian like the Roederer Estate.

 That's probably true. I'm not saying I've never bought wine at Costco. I'm saying I don't buy shit labelled "Kirkland". I prefer if my Champagne and my socket wrenches are made by different people.

This is why they call New Year's Eve amateur night.

You don't end the night with champagne, you start it with it.

After spending $30 on a New Belgium 12 pack and 8 can of Guinness, the $10 bottle of Korbel will do.

I wouldn't know or appriciate the price or taste of a $40+ bottle of quality champange.

Kirkland Signature is Costco's premium house brand. Kirkland doesnt make anything, its all private labeled. I know a little bit about Costco's private label brand strategy because a guy I went to school with who was fron the NW went to work for Costco out of school. Their strategy is to have high end market leading brands private label their Kirkland Signature products. Everything branded Kirkland Signature is made by a high quality recognizable brand. You would know every single one. They have zero interest in cheap low end price leading brands. None. The dollars and volume is just too much for anyone to pass up. Its a win win for consumers who recognise this and dont want to overpay for the lablel.
