Cutler will be better next year. Healthy Kevin White, hopefully Alshon is healthy and I'd love for them to draft a burner WR like the 3 little guys in AZ.

A healthy Kevin White and Alshon Jeffrey will almost guarantee a worse Cutler next year. He's achieved a career-high (yet thoroughly mediocre) QB rating of 92 this year thanks to his dink-and-dunk-5-yards-per-attempt passing game. Once he is given the green light to open it up again, is there any doubt whatsoever that the interceptions will skyrocket?

Bash them all you want. It's just odd that you as a fan of a more successful team don't have better things to do than pop in like clockwork during and after Bears games to make fun of Jay Cutler and John Fox.

In the "best year of his career" and one in which his OC is getting HC opportunities for turning him around, he is the 17th ranked passer going into today's game. It's likely lower after today. Don't want him.

That said, he'll be here next year.

I am admittedly not a Bears fan but I am a football fan doing pretty much the same thing as you...watching and posting. Sorry if I don't see things the same way you do.

And for the record, I am not making fun of either Cutler or Fox...I am disagreeing with posters espousing their greatness.

Gonna disagree on fox. Don't care about Cutler, he's just whatever. I don't think Fox is great but he's clearly taken the team forward after two disastrous years under Trestman. The bar is by definition low when you were as bad as the Bears. They were the butt of every joke about defense before the season and they are not anymore in just one year. That's progress. The next reasonable milestone is I think to make noise next year in the playoff race.

The Bears could easily be worse next year if Cutler starts hating Gase and decides to go back to the Jay Cutler Show.

If that happens then you simply cut him. He's got no leverage at this point in his disappointing career.

If the Bears are still going to lose, why play Jay Cutler at all? Why not trade him now, while he still has some value? You can lose ten games in 2016 and gain valuable developmental experience for your next quarterback, be it Fales or whoever.

The Bears have always been afraid to play someone other than Cutler at QB. First it was because they didn't want to hurt Jay's feeling to have a guy competing with him, when you were paying Cutler big money. But now there is no excuse. The old money-making formula of playing Cutler in whatever the circumstances is no longer viable. 10,000 no shows at Soldier Field today against Detroit.

Frankly, if they start Cutler again next year, I ain't watching them no mo. Because then it will be clear that the McCaskey's, Pace and Fox really don't get it that Cutler is not a winner, and that they're not serious about rebuilding the franchise.

I would take a chance on Kaepernick rather than sticking with old Jay. Or I wouldn't mind the Bears making a play for Luck.

Fox just got here, he tried to move this scrub already..nobody bit, Its doubtful another team will give us anything for this bum this off season as well..The Browns are the only team I could see but with a new G.M. and coach coming that looks like a very slim chance.. Just cut this boner.

You guys and your Cutler hard ones are hilarious. Sure the trade and contract were mistakes to some but have you looked around the NFL last couple of weeks and seen the shit slinging passes?

Its looking like Goober will start the playoff game for Denver, that can't sit well with Osweiler.. That's one guy I'd target if Cousins isn't achievable.

That makes it even sadder that Cutler will likely be below 20th in terms of passer rating after this week (in what everyone is calling the best year of his career). But he will be higher than Matt Hasselbeck!

Guys like mike and Spanky are clueless, This upcoming draft is weak at QB and still there be 2 guys at least who are better than Cutler in 2 years and making chump change.

I wanted Cousins, I wanted Teddy, both were there for the taking in the draft. I'd take Osweiler, Unknowns from draft or Manual from Buffalo.

I had no comment about what they should have done draft or trade last few years. There is a difference between saying he can do a good job and stay and just release him.

What are some of the shit slinging passes making though? Bears paid for an elite level qb and they've gotten average to slightly above for their buck which they coukdve received from a lot of guys for a third of the money .

At this point though I don't see him as anything but a placeholder for some better but currently unidentified QB. Sort of like a job you hang on to because it pays the bills while you look for something better.

Dude is making 16.5 million next year, The Bears can't continue to double down on a huge mistake.. You can't trade him so you release him.. Kaepernick is another guy I'd take a flyer on for 4 million and use that 12 million to beef up other positions.

Terrible analogy, unless that job pays 8$ an hour and you could get an 8 doller an hour job anywhere..so it makes no sense to keep that job.

You're assuming his skills can be replaced by just any QB. Listen I don't want to defend the guy, we all know he's more or less a waste of talent, but even so he's better than every QB outside of places like NE, Pittsburgh, Indy, GB, NYG, Jacksonville, etc. Since you're not acquiring any of those guys you keep what you have until you acquire someone with a higher ceiling than Jay, or at least the same floor.

Josh McCown has always had at least the same floor, and even has a higher rating than Cutler this year. But the Bears were never going to go with him, even at 1/4 the price.

As far as I remember, they were forced to do that to justify the contract they gave him. There was also a feeling that you had to roll with Cutler because Trestman was brought in specifically to take Cutler's game to the next level. Now we're in a different moment where Cutler isn't valued the same way anymore, IMO.

That doesn't help your argument; it hurts it. This is a year of historically bad QB play, and Jay is likely to end up behind 20th in passer rating this year.

You can sit there and say you "think" Cutler is great all you want, but don't you think it'd be helpful if you brought some sort of stats or thought rather than just making passive-aggressive comments?

I've never said he was great. Never. You still hung up on that?

Imaginary message boarding.

But that post helps my argument. Lots of teams with 2, 3, 4 QB's this year for multiple games.

So.. N.E.
Pitt
G.B.
Indy
NYG
Jax
Zona
Seattle
Minn
Detroit
Dallas
Wash
S.D.
Cincy
Tampa
N.O.
Oak

That's more than half the damn league, and guys like Fitz and Boyer are making WAY less.
