I shouldn't be making hockey threads .... bad form on the usual folks.

Kaner has more consecutive points for any US-born, drunken rapist or otherwise, NHL player. This merits a pregame ceremony with what apparently passes for 'music' these days.

Sunday Night Hockey in America ... be there, or not.

Lines for Tonight

1. Shaw - Toews - Hossa
2. Panarin - Anisimov - Kane
3. Desjardins - Danault - Teravinen
4. Bickell - Rasmussen - Garbutt

Defensive Pairings

1. Keith - Hjalmarsson
2. Gustafsson - Seabrook
3. van Riemsdyk - Rozsival

Crawford in Goal

Had Curious Hair created the thread it would have probably been some line from an Alanis Morissette song.

Would.

I didn't realize throwing a straight left to the mush of the opposition wasn't a penalty anymore. New year, new rules I guess.

Shaw is involved with so many infractions, giving or taking, that sometimes the refs just have to let a few go. That was one.

Hoo boy, this period. Have there been any set plays or sustained scoring chances? All I've seen are 36 dudes spazzing out like chickens with their heads cut off. That's not to say it hasn't been fun, mind you, but it's just a whole bunch of...stuff.

It's basically 'open skate' night so far.

So I see where Rundblad got "confused" and decided to take a plane to Switzerland instead of a cab to Rockford.

I like games like this because if no one's gonna score, at least you're running the clock down in quick fashion. I think they went two and a half minutes without a whistle at one point.

And yes, spmack, I would have used an Alanis lyric. Ottawa doesn't exactly have a vast music scene! She's all I got!

Nice goal from Keith.

The Senators without Karlsson on the ice are just a big blob of randomness. When he's on, there seems to be a purpose to what they're doing, but without, woof.

Might not want to claim Q hates young players when he has Danault killing penalties just a few games into his NHL career.

Florida wins their ninth straight, 2-1 over Minnesota, both goals Jagr's.

Four top-three draft picks, Jagr, and pretty good depth. Luongo seems to be revitalized away from Vancouver as well. They have a great deal of point inflation, though.

I still can't believe Jaromir is not just playing, not just viable, but doing well. In 2015. No wait, 2016. I shouldn't probably think that way, but I do.

Desjardins. Making up for the loss of Kruger :P

A really meh kind of game, but Crow does it again.

Not one for the end-of-year highlight reel maybe, but still a nice shutout win.

Funny, I was just going to say that with Danault winning draws (well, not tonight; 2 for 7) and the penalty kill humming, I'm not really missing Kruger. He'll be a welcome reinforcement for the playoffs, but I don't think I'll be rending any garments over his absence in the meantime.

Weird game, but it helps build the case for Crawford's Vezina and Kane's MVP and scoring title.

EDIT: diggin' these TOIs for the blue line:
Keith: 24:31
Hjalmarsson: 22:56
Seabrook: 19:32
van Riemsdyk: 17:46
Old Man Pucks: 17:44
Gustafsson: 16:44

It's great when a guy in his ninth NHL game can get almost 17 minutes and keep Keith below 25. More of this please please please.
