It'd be nice if we had the transcript. We could get a translation from Mort.

I have to admit. I was skimming the thread and assumed that was my guy Laurence telling that epic story

It was very Larry-like. Bernstein explains things with such emphasis that you'd have thought he cured cancer by figuring out you could scoop ice.

Like you, I was mystified by this anecdote. It was seemingly pointless, yet Bernstein apparently took great pride in recounting it. It really made him seem stupid.

Softening ice makes it easier to break up and clear? What a revelation!

I guess someone needs to inform him that the whole ice removal process can be expedited by one of these, too:

That's what I was thinking, too. The idiot is going to ruin his shovel, if he keeps using it to break up ice.

At the end of the story, it seemed like he gained some self-awareness and realized how terrible the story was. His enthusiasm fizzled. Maybe he realized that the blue collar meatballs he brags about chasing away from the Score in lieu of a "smarter fan" probably at least know how to shovel a driveway.

He shouldn't feel that bad about it. They guy who owns the Cubs doesn't know how to mop a floor or park a car.

No fucking way he feels bad about it. He takes pride in it for sure.

He may have thought the story would be better and felt bad about that

Let's keep the tribalism out of the B & B section, okay? There's enough hatred here.

Definitely didn't feel "bad". Just realized the story sucked, and I do think there was a part of him that realized how pathetic it sounded.

I cant see that.

I think he takes pride in not knowing how to do things that he and his cousins (who are doctors mind you) have "people" for

who's writing up the podcast recaps? I'm guessing Abbatacola because their podcast operation is half-assed in general, but this is interesting shade thrown at Bernstein:

Hour 2 demands that we all genuflect at the altar of John Paxson, the greatest executive in basketball history. What would you have done? Exactly. The infallible John Paxson will continue to lead the Bulls through a few more coaching changes, failed pursuits of high-end free agents and maybe he can earn another promotion!!

Add another thing to the list of reasons that Dan Bernstein lives a charmed life.

That right there is the greatest thought any Score intern has ever had.
