Yep. I hereby confirm it.

Like I said in another thread, the new guy is gonna want his guys for all of the Chicago CBS radio stations. He probably has friends that he wants to help out. That's the way it always is. So Mitch will be gone eventually. Maybe not until his contract expires whenever that is.

He's not automatically a goner, but once the new guy evaluates Mitch he will soon realize he is incompetent and THEN he will be a goner.

If you walked into Score studios and took a look @ the pile of talentless shit Mitch has accumulated, you'd evaluate him in 30 seconds. He's got no eye for talent.

That's a good point. The new guy is gonna hear guys like Shep, drinky, Julie and say "Why the fuck do these idiots get air time?" Mitch will say "Because they're cheap". Which is fine. But you can still get smarter young people on the cheap. Guys that are looking for a stepping stone gig. You don't have to have these idiots rep your station.

Usually when a company brings in a true outsider with no prior relationships to the company/station/org, it typically means they're looking to clean house. Otherwise, you promote from within or hire local or you bring somebody back.

True.....Owner of my company brought in a guy to be CEO and, and he did a lot of that.....then the owner got rid of the CEO a few months ago.

The winners in this will be Mully and Hanley

Reasonably priced talent with rock solid numbers. A new guy isn't messing with that.

Well, this guy managed their Phoenix cluster, so I wouldn't expect too much of a change.

sounds like a smart owner. even tho it's business, small people harbor big resentments and moving on from the axe-wielder can help put that bs behind .

wonder if this new guy is a fan Machiavelli? If you're gonna have to be the bad guy/make unpopular decisions, do it right away and move on.

wouldn't be surprised if this is, like spmack's CEO, a temp move for him. and he bounces back to Phoenix or LA once he's done cleaning house and rebuilding the station. Or it's his last stop on the way to corporate in NY.

Someone on the Larz board says this guy is coming in to clear the decks for a sale of the entire cluster and that Zimmerman's vaunted Cubs deal is bleeding the company dry -- the spot load for Cubs games on 780 was just rotators, bonuses, and national buys with no big-ticket sponsor like Old Style was (or Seattle Sutton, lol). Your Chicagoland And Northwest Indiana Chevy Dealers have been placing their buys with the Blackhawks instead, arguably a consequence of the Cubs telling everyone to leave them alone for three years during which time the Hawks won a couple championships.

Clear the decks for a sale? Sure, OK, get rid of the 2nd frequency/band for the simulcasted stations. But they have to shore up sales before they do anything else. As for the Cubs deal, well, you got it and its yours and its going nowhere...

Talent? They'll pay less for it if they can, and, I suspect, not-so-idly wonder why there are 2 hosts for every daytime shift. Its not like that in every city...

Rumor has it spmack and Rick O'Dell are gathering investors to buy 105.9 and flip it to smooth jazz.

Rumor has it that Scorehead is the financial muscle behind the deal.

Let this be my formal offer to buy 96.3 WBBM for $143.57 from CBS.

I (haven't) been in lengthy discussions with CH, and he'll be in charge of programming. Beardown is doing traffic. The format is undecided, we're just going to wing it. If you would like to apply for a career in the booming broadcast industry please (dont) head to the old Score studios on Belmont (or you will be shot for trespassing).

Since TB is 65ish will new management begin the gentle pushing out the door process? That salary of his is a crime against humanity. Not saying I agree but I would think he'd be a top target for cost cutting. This station is sooo fucking in need of a boat rocking. Complacency and comfort have allowed minimal work effort and unimaginative thinking by WSCR employees to become the norm.

Well this news was enough to bring me out of lurk mode. Plus, I've been busy putting the 105.9 financing together!
It's a glorious day. Them changes are a-comin'. No way Mitch survives this. The Score has been a place full of passive comfortable people who weren't managed to expectations or held accountable for a long long time. Many of these folks don't know what real pressure is. They don't know what real management is.
However, despite all of the negative ranting we do here about the current state of The Score, we need to be careful what we wish for because there is a chance that The Score is decimated & turns to more national programming. With the exception of Scott Ferrall in evenings, I'm not interested in listening to national programming.

This will really frost Lil Danny's ass and make him hate the Hawks even more.

You nailed it. It's apparant for the following reasons.

1. Whenever drinky cracks the mic to start a stupid child-like conversation with Bernstein or tells a horrible joke. Or when drinky doesn't talk, he's got his feet on the desk looking at porn on the internet. Yeah, he's by the phone. But he doesn't screen. It's simply "Score, please hold, we'll get your dumb ass up when we get your dumb ass up."

2. When Goff walks in every day winging it and decides that what happened at his crib and child hood stories are what he's gonna talk about. Not that he plans it. He's probably never planned a segment since he's come back to the Score. He just talks about the first thing that pops into his head on a daily basis.

3. Terry. Enough said.

4. The other dumb ass producers who get air time. Who think "Fuck You" radio is the way to go cuz that's what the king does. But they're less talented and just come off as angry, bitter dumb asses.

Yeah. They're all scared that a new sheriff is in town. They should be.

I know by our nature we're going to dwell on the ramifications for the Score, but I'd be worried about K-Hits most of all. That's a station you can run out of a broom closet.
