Anybody have a good reason why they should play the final 3 games?

There is none. Harris has a nagging groin, knee and hamstring. Urlacher has the back.

Why risk them doing serious damage? You're lucky to get this far without them incurring major damage. There is no reason to play them. Of course, Lovie will play them.

You could sit down Lovie and explain it to him just like I did. He'll pause and say "Well, Beardown, the doctors have cleared them. We have a game next week. They will play. That's the way I see it. Next question."

I with you. No sense in causing further damage. Plus, it gives you a chance to see what some of the other guys on defense can do (if anything at all).

One... That they owe it to their fans to put the best possible team on the field every gameday.

Seeing other guys is fine. I just want it done because we've avoided terrible injurys from these guys and that luck might run out.

Harris has injuries that forces him to compensate and leaves him vulnerable for other injuries. If you sit Harris now, with the full off season, I think he can be 100% next year.

Urlacher might always have a bad back but there is no reason to risk further injury to him either.

I just want to see Lovie explain it if these two get seriously hurt for playing in meaningless games with existing injuries.

No. They owe the fans doing everything they can to win a Super Bowl.

This years Super Bowl can't be won. Next years can be won. Doubtful. But resting Harris and Urlacher better increases your chances to win next year. This season is over.

If the Bears tried to sit Urlacher, the commissioner's office would have a discussion with them about 'tanking'. It's against the integrity of the game and a big no no in the NFL.

The commissioner wouldn't do shit. Just make up something above and beyond what ails them. You don't even have to make up anything.

Hell, it's common for teams who have clinched playoff spots to sit guys late in the year. The Bears did it last year. Many teams have done that. The commissioner doesn't fine those teams. These are situations where players aren't even hurt.

These players are sitting when their opponent might have something at stake.

Same difference. Playoff teams are trying to give themselves the best chance to win in this years playoffs. The Bears would be trying to give themselves the best chance to make next years playoffs.

Exactly. Harris is gonna have some clean up surgery on that knee. Might as well get that done now and get a jump on the recovery. Be as ready as you can for 2008.

They have enough aches and pains to shut up Goodell when he calls. I would also sit Kreutz, Tait, Olson, Clark, and Hester.
