The DH had a blurb on this in today's paper. I forgot Doinker worked with Rozner on hit n run or that he was at the Game. I kind of wondered how he ended up at WGN, and I guess that is from the Game.

I honestly never followed the happenings of McKnight, so his history easily escaped me. Out of sight, out of mind.

I don't know much about him either. Serious question...Was Connor a winner in a Score search open call for hosts?

Yes, he won a Score Search contest intended to identify talented reporters/update guys, if my memory serves.

He was hand-picked by Bernstein, who was either the sole or chief judge for the competition.

Just like he was the judge for 10FM, and the Burger guy that I can't remember.

This would be like the Cubs hiring Roc Mamola. I would be so pissed.

The saving grace for fans of all involved is that Rongey is absolutely humiliated.

C'mon. How prestigious is being an update guy at the SCORE when drinky and Spepkowski do it every now and then?

Look at how the Score treats it. Nobody is full time. They have about 10 people doing it part time.

Which is why you don't get George Ofman anymore.

George probably had the shortest and easiest path back from Webio. Probably didn't want to hear shit from B&b, so he's now a bigger fish on BBM.

Shorty George also had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it stint at WGN doing Cubs pre/post on the days that Judd and Kaplan didn't. Maybe some other anchor stuff too, but I remember him doing Cubs postgames on Sundays.

Well, that is a picture of the Subway pervert, not Rongey, so that makes sense.

Guys,

In response to Connor's hiring with WLS, good for him. He is knowledgeable and, hopefully, will do a good job.

Danny B didn't hand pick Connor when he and I were the finalists for the first Score Search contest. I recall reading on Larz's website the Thursday before the live broadcast to announce the winner that upper management had already chosen Conner as the winner of the contest. I really thought I had a chance to win the contest, especially when a panelist-which consisted of Dan B, Ron Gleason, Drew Hayes and Mitch Rosen-questioned his knowledge of the Chicago sports scene. In fact, Dan was very complimentary of me during the broadcast. What I remember that night was each of the panelists giving a thumbnail sketch opinion of our "audition" and Hayes had a few things to say about each contestant until he got to me and stated "I didn't like some of your answers". He didn't expound on that which got me to thinking the post on Larz's site was legit.

I was the oldest of the four finalists that night-I was 40 at the time-and some think my age had something to do with my not being selected. The choice was a young man who management probably felt the station could build around for the future.

My only question, were they watching you as you spoke?

The problem I have is that they forget that we can't see you, and in some cases don't really care. But I think that goes a long way to any one's success. "Face for radio." Not everybody, but then again it shouldn't matter.

I would think upper management didn't care and felt like it was a distraction for them to have to participate. I don't doubt they convened in advance.

Is there a team for which Rongey would be a "good fit," especially without significantly altering his on-air persona?

The L.A. Rams since no one in L.A. cares about sports. Its like Ok, let's get this over with....

Does SALON need a pre and post host for their company softball team?
