Bernstein said no.

Not sure if his kid confirmed it.

He played on a bad ankle (was a game time decision) and he made winning plays most of the game (last play in regulation was BAD). He's really taken his game to another level. Bernstein will change his tune tomorrow.

I'm pretty sure I heard him say when Rose isn't there anymore Butler will show who he really is.

I'll bet Rose had a great game tonight.

Butler as the best player gets you a first round playoff loss. He is the Bulls player, then they struggle to get out the first round. He has to be your third best player to be a serious contender.

Yikes! Those were bad thoughts. Rose was preparing himself for a graduation in 2030.

He can be 2nd best. I think he's good enough to get you to at least the 2nd round. He's a star but not quite a superstar.

Maybe 2nd round. The thing with Butler is that you don't really have to double him. Great offensive players require a double team. I don't really see teams ever game planning for him either. In order to be that guy, you have to require a double team or defensive adjustment. He does neither.

If he is the man then there will a lot of 35 to 40 win seasons. Rose never had guys as good as Gasol or Butler when he was MVP. Butler has good players around him and if he is going to be the man then the team has to perform better than it did last yr or so far this yr.

They are doubling him. When they do he usually makes the right basketball play. When they don't he's great at attacking and scoring. It's time for you to admit that you were wrong about Butler. He's a star and a great all around player and a really good scorer. #Leonard Lite

I don't know what I have exactly been wrong about. I like Butler but he is not an elite player. By elite I'm talking top ten. Maybe not top 15.

Wing players (2) or (3) I'd rather have than Butler.

Paul George
Kevin Durant
Kawhi Leonard
LeBron James
James Harden
Klay Thompson
Carmelo Anthony

Those would be the two that are debatable but I think Melo is still a better player than Butler. Better scorer and the Knicks have already surpassed their win total from last season.

Thompson more debatable but he is the equal or slightly better defender and far better shooter. Also not nearly the ball stopper that Butler is. Butler much better at attacking the rim. Butler is also a tougher player.

Butler as the Bulls best player model isn't taking the Bulls anywhere. That is why there is still hope, likely false, that Rose will become a difference making player. I didn't watch the game but they went to overtime with by the worst team in the NBA.

I see the Jalen Rose yrs all over again if the Bulls are merely "Butler's team". You remove Gasol, Rose and that is what you'll have.

Besides the 53 points it wasn't exactly a box score game. The Bulls were down by almost 30. Butler and Taj were the leading scorers at the half with 25 and 11. Noah was 3rd with 2. This was a game that Noah and Butler decided they weren't going to lose. They showed why they're the heart and soul of this team. They also showed that they still prefer Thibs offense. Hoiberg is going to have to get Butler to buy in more or adjust his offense. When a guy has score 40 in a half and 53 in a game playing isolation ball the coach may need to be flexible going forward.

Butler is an elite player. He's not an elite scorer but he's arguably the 2nd best 2 way player in the league.

As two way players go Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and LeBron James are better.

Butler is probably a top twenty guy when you really start breaking guys down. This is what the Bulls would be without Rose and Gasol. A team that gets down 24 to the worst team in the league. This is what has happened during games against Indiana and Toronto also. Iso Butler gets you about 20-25 wins without other good players around him.

It was the Sixers, that means it has no bearing on any league status.

What? Every star needs good players around them unless you are a Thibs coached team that can win 50 games with Augustine as your best scorer. Gasol is important but the Bulls would be better instantly with a replacement level PG.

Rose has been a negative, not a positive.

So with Butler as the Bulls' best player, Gasol as the #2, and a terrible coach, the Bulls are the #3 seed in the East.

With a solid starting PG, this team could be a championship contender. Hell, I'll take 2016 Rondo with all of his faults and still like my chances with Butler and Gasol.

Carmello!???? That fucking street thug couldn't suck the smegma off Butler's dick. JB is better at every aspect of the game, and that includes spot up shooting. Harden takes too many nights off and forces TOO MUCH when the chips are down. Klay is too close to call.

There is no way I'm taking Harden over Butler. I'll acknowledge that I hate Harden, but Harden isn't a legit #1 on a good/great team, doesn't care about defense, or team. Imo.

I grew up watching the no rings Iceman, World B, David Thompson & the 130pts per game Nuggets under Doug Moe, so not nearly as much as some would think.

"Good scorer" is the dumbest phrase in sports.

He gave up 50, but he scored 25 on 5 of 18 shooting!

If you have to avoid calling a basketball player a "good basketball player" and have to refer to him as a scorer...chances are he isn't very good at basketball.
