Or pretty damn close. 24 out of 50

Broncos: 8

Steelers: 8

Patriots: 8

That's pretty remarkable when you think about it.

Throw in the Raiders with 5 and the Bills with 4 and nearly half the league has no reason to exist.

Actually, I'll go a little shorter.

4 teams in the AFC have been in 23 of the last 31 Super Bowls. Starting with Super Bowl XX (Bears 46 Pats 10 in case you forgot).

Patriots: 8
Steelers: 4
Bills: 4
Broncos: 7

That is actually a pretty amazing stat. I am genuinely surprised.

14 of the last 15 AFC Championship games had Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger.

2003: Patriots

2005: Steelers
2006: Colts
2007: Patriots
2008: Steelers
2009: Colts
2010: Steelers
2011: Patriots

A particularly bleak stretch right here, especially the repetition of Patriots-Steelers-Colts. Lined right up with the Super Bowl broadcast rotation and everything.

Patriots 8
Steelers 8
Broncos 8
Raiders 5
Dolphins 5 (CH forgot about them in his post)
Bills 4
Colts 3 (as an AFC team)

That's 41/50 Super Bowls by 7 represenatives. That's 82% of the Super Bowls played by 7 teams.

NFC is a little better:

Cowboys 8
49ers 6
Packers 5
Giants 5
Redskins 5
Vikings 4
Rams 3
Seahawks 3, all as NFC
Bears 2, lol at Bears
Eagles 2
Panthers 2
Buccaneers, Saints, Falcons, Cardinals 1
none for the Lions

If the Panthers win, they'll have one win in two appearances as a 1995 expansion team, equaling the Super Bowl achievements of the Bears.
