Forte is 38th all time in rushing. Looking at the guys from 20-29, which is where he'd be if he played full time for two more years, and the best post-30 season for any of them, and when they stopped playing

Corey Dillon, 199 attempts for 812 yards, finished after age 32 season
OJ Simpson, 161/593, 32
Warrick Dunn, 286/1140, 33
Rickey Watters, 278/1242, 32
Jamal Lewis, retired after age 30 season
Thomas Jones, 331/1402, 33
Tiki Barber, 327/1662, 31
Eddie George, 132/432, 31
OJ Anderson, 325/1023, 35 (!)
Rickey Williams, 241/1121, 34

Most of these guys had exactly one good year from 31+.

If he would be willing to come back for a 1-year deal, the Bears would be stupid not to consider bringing him back. But Forte will be a 3rd down back by the time 2017 rolls around.

was a helluva special team player :D

Won't miss him and his 3rd and forever screen passes or draws, decent back but I like the running backs to run over guys and run up the middle.

Agreed, unless they draft Ezekial Elliott but that would be a stupid move for other reasons.

I bet Forte puts up at least at couple more 1K yard rushing seasons

Anderson was arguably that best RB in the league for a couple of years. I don't think you could say that about Forte. Still, I really appreciate what Forte did for this team

Now, all the Bears have to do is trade Bennett and they will have denuded themselves of almost all the talent from what was a stacked offensive group not long ago

One more. Highly unlikely to be two more.

I think he goes to New England, wins his Super Bowl with Brady, and calls it a career.

I wasn't old enough to appreciate Anderson when he had his three sensational years. I remember jack shit, actually, but I was obsessed with football cards right around that time, and 1988 was just a shit year to make your topps debut. If it was 86 topps or 89 score, I might not have been brainwashed into thinking that he was nothing particularly special, but alas, his rookie card was basically a common.

They'll still have Cutler!

Neal Anderson was good enough to make you wonder why the fuck Walter was still playing.

I always remember Anderson diving head first into things. Pylons, defenders, blockers, the ground. Seems CTEish.

Which years would that have been? Eric Dickerson & then Barry Sanders were playing during Anderson's prime.

Are you sure you've verified Forte as an actual Bear? Any one here ever met him?

You know how those twitter accounts can be false, all hoax like.

I agree. You've got Lankford for 3 more years and you're paying him nothing. He'll put up Forte numbers next year.

Was never really impressed with him except for that contract year he had.. 1k yards ain't shit, its like 62 yards a game.. He was the king of the useless yards too, 3rd and 22 so the defense let's the shitty Bears complete a 9 yard pass and immediately tackle forte.. Never could get that 3rd and 1 or 4th n 1 when ya really need it.

I disagree but even if it were true, Cutler is probably the second best qb in Bears history..I won't miss either.

Sweetness

Neal Anderson was better than Forte. You also have to take something into consideration. He lost the first 2 years of his career cuz he was Payton's back up in '86 and '87. He fizzled out quickly in '93 cuz he was beaten down. He retired at the age of 29 for the love of God. But he had 4 real good years. Better than Forte's best 4 years.

I guess you can give Forte points for lasting longer. But as a pure talent, in his prime, Neal Anderson was the better RB.

Plus some e mailer made a good point on B&B. Nobody ever stacked the box to stop Forte like they do for elite backs. So he benefited from that. He wasn't good enough to get that game planning attention.

Neil Anderson faced 8 man boxes a lot cuz we had shit QBs and WRs when he played (T-Zack and Harbaugh).

He was a bright spot on a team that was really awful for many years. I agree it's time to move on, yet I'm sure he can still go to a team and do very well for 1-2 more years.

He was the best since Neal Anderson. Yes...Anderson was a better runner....Forte a better receiver.

This simply isn't true. He faced a lot of 8 and 9 men in the box early in his career. His usage rate was really high too.

They threw to Forte more but I think I recall Anderson being a deep threat lining up in the backfield, and not just as a novelty. It was a whole thing.
