That really defines hipster assholery.

Depends on the area too. My cousin lives in Grand Rapids and they laugh at us for our Hopslam and KBS hysteria.

Tickets are $200 a piece this year. $200. You are guaranteed 1 variant bottle and 4 regular bottles. And a bag of $40 of coupons and merch.

I'm out for this year, too rich for my blood. And no GA admission this year either. I figure I've been to enough of them anyway. I've got friends that are always willing to share the stuff too, so that works for me.

Heck, I'm guessing that I'll be having some tonight at the Whale Party that I'm going to with my favorite beer nerds.

200 a ticket. Wow. With the amount of good beers out there, I could never pay that. But if people pay it, then more power to you.

The lack of GA tickets may take some of the fun out of the event, but it could be that it was growing to be too big for them to handle. I imagine that I will probably skip as well, even though if you think about it, you dropped close to $200 previous years. Just a bit of a sticker shock... should be easier for them to handle as they have less cash to deal with at the event.

The plus side is that everyone will get a variant this year unlike years past. Plus you don't have to pay extra in theory since you get your 5 bottles and the certificates for 40 bucks in food and drink. Nice idea.

Technically yes. You get a 40 dollar voucher in the package for food/drink. Along with 5 bombers of Dark Lord.

I didn't realize that you get five bombers. That $200 tag doesn't sound so bad now.

It's not as bad a deal as it originally looks because of the included food/drink vouchers and the fact that you're guaranteed a barrel aged variant. At the same time I'm someone who would probably turn down a variant if it was something like Aquavit or Moscatel, and you now have to pay for something like that no matter what. And regular Dark Lord kind of sucks in my opinion, so having that allotment included doesn't make it more tempting either. My friend and his wife went for years but are sitting this one out due to lack of GA tickets.

Edit: Also the fact that variants are still first-come first-served seems really dumb and is likely to make this just as much of a shitshow as it's been at its worst.

You said that BCBS sucks, too.

You sound like one of the bartenders at Two Brothers.

Speaking of BCS, I got the refund for the Coffee variant today. It wasn't as bad as they make it out to be, but I'm getting a refund nonetheless....and a shirt. :D

No I didn't, I said I didn't think it was necessarily worth the effort to get relative to other more attainable beers in that style (particularly the variants). Dark Lord by contrast is just an overly sweet mess.
