In all reality, this report doesn't change a thing. We didn't need to see these names to confirm what many of us thought about many of these names already. All this report does is drag down a few mor enames that aren't as big as Bonds, Clemens, and McQwire. My opinion was that these guys were scumbags beforehand, and they will remain scumbags after this report.

I missed this. Did they say if they tried to talk with Vina?

Just after Mitchell was through, they cut back to the ESPN studios and Bob Ley and Buster Olney began reporting on the report. Bob Ley read parts of the Clemens and Pettitte verbatim and then jumped right to Fernando Vina. Bob Ley made sure to comment that Vina was an employee of ESPN and works on Baseball tonight as an analyst. He didn't read anything else in the 20 minutes I watched past that.

John Kruk is retarded. Hes kissing Clemen's ass, when really I believe everything that was said about him. The reason he went to the Blue Jays was that everyone else thought he was washed up, and all of a sudden he is a Cy Young winner again. I hate people are that stupid.

Sorry guys, but possible proof of Clemens' use is pretty big news. This is more than just speculation, which is all we had before Thursday.
The guy could be thought of as one of the best right-handed starters of all time. If you trace back the possible start of his usage, he would be around 200 wins. I remember when the Chisox passed on The Rocket. Boers talked about it today, stating the Schueler passed because they believe that Roger was damaged goods.
And who says that is the end of this issue? I seriously don't believe that this was a waste of money.
I believe that this is just another step in the right direction.
I laughed out loud when I heard Fehr and Selig offered up in their press conferences. Nice try, but I don't believe you covered your butts on this one.

Tim Kurkijan keeps his head in the dark on this issue.

He actually stated today, when asked about his surprise over the detail and documentation in the report proving that Clemens had used steroids, "Roger Clemens would not have denied these allegations through an attorney if this was true."

What?

Because Clemens denied he didn't use steroids, despite all the documentation and testimony of his own personal trainer encompassing 9 pages of the Mitchell report, then Clemens must be right?

What?

John Kruk said it best, on two counts. He said that all steroids experts said that prolonged careers with steady or improving statistics are often the most glaring sign of a player using performance enhancing substances. Clemens fits this mold to a "T". On the other hand, he also said that despite the evidence piling up against him, he has a hard time believing Clemens is guilty, putting him into the apologist category of fans, reporters, players, and those associated with the game that feel they need to actually see a person do something to believe its true. Under those guidelines, there wouldn't be anyone in prison these days.

Old Johnny One Nut is just that kind of apologist.

Boston let Clemens go because they thought he was finished, then he comes back with two years in toronto and has the best years of his career to that point and then keeps topping himself with the yankees and astros. Clearly, after boston let him go he decided that it was time to get a little help. In boston, he may have been a workout warrior, but he was twig, he started ballooning to what he is now in toronto.

Tuna, egg whites, and Mega Mass 2000.

Oh, and lots of water...to clean his system out.

I think in that one commercial, his wife wanted him out of baseball due to steroid shrinkage.

Yeah, his body clearly changed. He's like the Incredible Hulk now

Almost Bonds-like

BD,
Actually his last two seasons in Boston Clemens got really fat and was out of shape. He started to look like CC Sabathia.
He showed up for his first season with the Jays in significantly better shape than the round shape he was in when he left Boston. Naively, back then all the Red Sox fans attributed his new found conditioning to motivation from being dumped, now we know better.

I remember reading about his incredible workout regimine in my yout. After being taken out of a game he would regularly go on a five mile run.

But Fisk also had the same kind of routine...tell me pudge was not juicing.

You have to wonder what allows a 40+ year old to lift weights for 3 hours after squatting down behind home plate for 3+ hours while most 30 year old bodies can't handle that type of strain.
The pioneer users in baseball most likely started using about the same time NFL players did; 30-35 years ago.

This is a good read. Clemens getting stuck in the ass because he can't do it himself.

My understanding is that a steroid shot is not like getting a flu shot. A lot of these guys couldn't do it because the thing hurts like a mother fucker.

They say that you can tell the guys who have just done it because they rub their backsides for an hour afterwards.
