This offense has been denuded of talent. They have rid themselves of three Pro Bowl talents at skill positions under reasonable contracts. Those kind of guys are not easily replaced. On the bad guy scale of the NFL, these guys barely even registered (I understand Forte isn't a bad guy). Moving ahead, are they just going to get rid of anyone who makes any kind of movement that isn't in line with Bears management thinking?

That NE seems to believe it can utilize Bennett is an indictment of the Bears front office and coaching staff.

I heard Kyle Long doesn't get along with a janitor.

Or the Bears don't want to deal with his drama. He's not a Fox guy...happens all the time.

The Marty stuff is dumb. He doesn't have a huge history and was only a minor annoyance.

The Bears didn't miss Marshall at all. I think they'll miss Marty.

There's a reason Bennett is now on his 4th team. And if he pulls his diva act in NE....he will be gone from there. Not too hard to figure out.

Agreed. Was he a bit annoying? Sure, ok. But he's a damn good football player. I just find it very hard to believe that the annoyances outweigh what he brings to the field. We move up from a 6th pick to a 4th? Meh, that's not much to my mind. Rather have Marty.

Workplace issues are legit. If he's a nuisance behind closed doors, then your production must be out of this world for you to stay. It wasn't, though it was probably above average. But that's not good enough to wipe out being a question mark in the locker room.

That gave every team the chance to trade for the great Martellus Bennett. And only one team stepped up. You would think teams would be lining up to get him since he only has one year left on his deal. You don't want a talent like that to hit the open market. I wonder why.

New England sure is dumb and always loses trades.

That's not true, WR is their biggest weakness and Marshall had a career year in NY.

The Bears offense was pretty much the same this year as it was the year before.

The only had one truly dominant offensive year with Marshall and that was more Alshon than him.

Well, trades in the NFL can be difficult and don't happen too often. It was even harder if they were trying to trade him with 2 years remaining.

Bennet was above average, sure. But you can find guys like him. Not sure why him leaving means we have to mourn.

A 4th round pick for the great Bennett? You would think there would be multiple teams who would have at least offered that.

Yes. And he will more than likely have a good year in NE. Doesn't change the fact that it sounds like he was an asswipe and they were sick of dealing with him. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

They may have. Why would they wait for others to accept similar deals?

Yes he does, if he means that Miller was excellent and was looking forward to the same kind of two TE sets you will now see dominating in NE next year

They just did the same thing to Chandler Jones.

Martellus Bennett will have his pick of many teams in FA next year

But if he's as valuable as I'm reading he is, many teams should want to give up a 4th round pick and then sign him to an extension so he doesn't hit the open market.

My position is that the loss of Bennet in the big picture will be negligible. I don't believe Miller is a serious starter but do believe they'll eventually find someone at TE who can fit what they're trying to do on offense. If Bennet produces all world numbers in NE it doesn't necessarily follow that he could have done the same here.
