Long Time Guy said: i don't recall you "fighting the good fight" in the McSuckets thread. Like so many that post you appear to have found the "persona non grata" guy and latch onto whatever the consensus happens to be. I don't know what master of the obvious since the obvious that you speak wasn't really that apparent . I have nothing if not integrity.

I get your point. However; I don't participate in the threads. I noticed the McBuckets thread weeks ago but did not open it. There were MANY responses and from years of forum participation I knew that I could add nothing, particularly since before this year I had never even heard of the guy!

I'm not interested in any sort of internet argument and my choice of the word "obvious" was a bad one.

On the subject of tonight's game: It will be a rare laugher.

Good to see you noticed. The guy is a different player. If he can become adequate defensively he will be a solid starter in the league. He is a good athlete. His defensive instincts were terrible earlier in the year. Terrible on switches and back door cuts. Wasn't physical. It looks like he has gotten better as the season has gone on. Teams are not attacking him as much. He will never be a good defender but if can be hidden against weak offensive players then he should be cool. The guy can score and he isn't merely a catch and shoot player either.

Woah that thing. It was one game against a brutal team. You didn't hesitate to point out when other players had great games against subpar teams.

He had a good game. We're not close to calling him a solid basketball player, let alone a starter.

its not one game. You haven't been really been checking McBuckets out for about the past month month and a half have you? He had 20 the game before and 29 against Toronto before that. 1 Game? The dude is a different player. "Eye test" should verify that for you.

What were his rebound, assist, steal, turnover and block numbers? How did his team perform when he was on the court in those other games?

Points scored is one statistic out of many statistics.

No player is judged as 'good' based on one statistic. In any sport.

Scoring 20 points does not mean you get a pass when you're bad at everything else.

If Doug can score 60 a night, we'll talk about allowing him to be a turnstile.

Here is why +- is a meaningless stat. He is out there primarily with Brooks, Holiday, Felicio, Portis (I'm still a fan). It's not McDermott's fault that the bulls bench is not good. That doesn't mean that he is playing badly either.

He is also out there primarily against the other team's bench.

I once heard a wise man (I think it was Bill Gleason on the Sportswriters) say good defense in basketball means you scored 1 more point than the guy you were guarding.

I think McDermott IS an NBA talent and needs more playing time.

Its time for Dunleavy to kick bricks. Don't know why Paxson resigned him. I agree with you about McDermott. He can play.
