He's worked pretty regularly in this major market for a long time. When he leaves a job, he's found another right away.

Outside of Webio, he's hardly been on the air since he left the Score.

North hasn't worked hard since about 1995. He's probably lazier than Mac.

Being on morning drive FM in the morning is fairly successful and a little less stressful, I would think.

If you listened as long as some of us to Mac and what he has shared he did not come from high income privileged background. So your angle probably doesn't work.

Not really a close call.

North had 1 run, tried many many MANY different outlets, one worse than the next. I believe his current gig as a Fox nationally syndicated show is the equivalant of the pack of gum you buy at checkout. No real thought to it, but they need to fill the space with something....and that is probably a step up from the previous gig.

Mac has gone 4 places now and has acquired ratings at each stop.

Really not a contest.

Everyone can have an opinion on what they like, but numbers speak.

I don't think North should be penalized giving up his high-profile radio job to pursue his life-long dream of being a professional sports handicapper.

That kind of dedication to a dream should be celebrated.

I agree,BF but I will contend that North's one run was way bigger than Mac's 4 runs. He was huge.

Overall though,I'll still go with Wendell Smith. He had a school named after him!

Norths run was big, not even a question, but in a way, they helped each other in that case. North doesnt get any publicity without the Jiggs and Macs joining on the station.

Also, Jessie Rogers was a HUGE part of Norths success. Jessie made North somewhat reputable and to this does a great job bringing in athletes to talk. He isnt such a smart guy and maybe thats why North and him clicked, but it worked.

I just look at the number of other times North flopped...which is pretty much every other time...and you should think, something was different at WSCR when he started and it wasnt just North.

I don't think Mac would have found his true sports radio voice without North blazing the populist trail. Dan has eclipsed Mike but he is derivative of him.

I'd say Mac has had a more successful career in terms of objective things like career earning and ratings. Mike's highs were unreachably high but the career average is lower than Dan's.

I am thankful to have been able to enjoy both.

Can we back up a moment, and define what we mean by "successful"? Each has their own measure of success so I'd like to know what criteria we want to apply because by different metrics we get different results.

Really, Ken? My impression was, he's sitting around figuring what else he can monetize without the radio gig, and remembered his show had a handicapping segment. And these segments, as we know, have a goofs on the mics, and goofs calling in. (Fill in the name of any host you'd like for the spot of "goof.")
