IMO, even "go die bitch" is still in the realm of mean comments. It's nearly the meanest you can say, but still just a mean comment. Something like "you better watch your back, I know where you work" or the like, yeah, that should be reported. Actual threats are a legitimate problem, and I think it's reasonable to argue that, in general, people are unthinkingly just way too mean on the internet; but that doesn't make mean comments into harassment, or something that requires policing.

julie's crusade is simply ridiculous. A public twitter profile is accessible by ALL PEOPLE. That includes the people who wish death upon you... all the way to the other extreme being the people who cant wait for your next tweet so they can suck up to you.... There is a way you can block the bad comments and get only good ones... it's called take your profile private.... but obviously a private profile is not going to grow nearly as fast as a public one would... so you either ignore or put up with the negative people.... or you get off twitter or use a private profile.... Why is this simple understanding of how the internet works so difficult for her to understand??

I think we should take this a step further. Anyone who ever feels harassed should board up their house and never leave and then BOOM, problem solved!

Just make your whole life private!

Awful idea on so many levels. What if your computer is hacked? What if someone else shares the photo? Or your phone is stolen? Seems like quite a chain of possession to prove. It's a crazy slippery slope, and even in "legit" cases this is mostly going to hit young people post break-up when they are confused and angry.

Let's just send the entire population to prison. This is ridiculous.
