Should be an interesting tournament this year with so many top players seemingly playing well. That and the big 4 all playing near the top of their games except maybe Spieth. My dad was there today and has been working out there a lot the last few weeks. He said the flowers are peaking right now due to warmer than usual weather but the course looks to be in perfect shape. He watched Dustin Johnson practice on the range a while as he "worked".

What does your dad do for a living? I want his job.

When I was there last year I started talking to an Augusta native and asked him what he hears about the golf course. He said, as you'd expect, you really don't hear much of anything. He did tell one story he heard - apparently they keep dry ice around the azaleas to keep them fooled that it is still winter. They pull that off a week or two before the tournament so that they are freshly bloomed and full of color come the weekend.

My dad was fortunate enough to retire at 55 and moved to South Carolina just across the river from Augusta. He joined a couple other retirees from his neighborhood and caddied for about 5 years out at Augusta National. Around 60 he was too old to carry clubs out there and was fortunate enough to drive members from the parking lot to wherever they want to go on the property. It's a great gig. He gets to play on caddy day and gets a free pass to the tournament for the entire week. Pretty fortunate.

That's great. You ever get to play there?

No they wouldn't allow that. I hope to make my 2nd Masters in the next few years. My dad may not do this much longer. He has some cancer now and I think they want to move to FL to be by some other friends. Now we try to play a nice course each summer to have a fun memory together. This year is Whistling Straits and he picked it because it's walking only and he can still walk 18. We did Erin Hills last year as it too is walking only. Anyway it's been cool for him to work there and meet a lot of members and guests. I always found Masters week to be the most exciting tournament of the year so it's cool to have someone on the inside who can tell you what it is actually like there.

It is easily my favorite sporting event of the year.

Looking forward to Frank's practice round updates. Oh wait...

My picks are Rory McIlroy or Louis Ooesthizuen. I think Day, Spieth and DJ all contend and will be in the thick of it come Sunday afternoon.

Would love to see Phil get his fourth green jacket but I'm just not sure he can take it outright and he would need some help from the field.

I'll likely watch all of Friday and Saturday's coverage and DVR Sunday and watch that night.

I have a good feeling about McIlroy but not sure why. He looks more comfortable with the cross handed putting

The Golf Channel will be airing a one hour special tonight about the '86 Masters.

Ernie Els six-putted from two feet on the first hole.

Nobody cares about that. Let's get to what's important here.

How's breakfast?

I don't think Spieth hangs on. I'm leaning towards Day.

Rory can't get through Amen Corner without flashbacks from 2013(?) on 10.

Regardless though, T-Bone is absolutely correct, will be exciting.

I am hoping for another Spieth temper tantrum and meltdown.
Couple of cool pairings. Overcast conditions will help old man Langer from sweltering in the sun.

Not many birdies in the final few groups so far. If Speith keeps putting pars on the board, that could be enough.

If he wins again, does Bubba put the jacket on him?

Course is playing easy today. 72 average round, most rounds finished at or under par today.

Couple of aces for eagles on the par 3 16 by Davis Love and Shane Lowry
