Bears face Denver, New England and K.C. in the first three weeks.

Good that we'll find out early what this team is made of.

I'll play along. How will one series vs Denver and New England prove anything good or bad?

If we win the first 3 game and dont lose the rest of the season we will be undefeated... So yea it says a lot if we beat NE and KC

Probably because Bears-Browns feels like it ought to be a rivalry (Great Lakes cities, founding fathers of football, meatball fans) but it can't be.

We had Seattle in the third game of the pre-season last year. Anyone who saw that game knew the Bears really had no chance after that for the rest of the year. They were woefully outmatched on both sides of the ball. I still remember the B&B show from the Monday after, when people were messaging in that the Bears were in a lot of trouble and they were right on.

It should play out similarly this year, when we can see what our guys can do against good competition early on. I don't think anyone is disputing that Denver, the PATS and K.C. are among the "cream of the class", to borrow from Hamp. If we get pounded in the 1st half in weeks 2 and 3, then you'll know what to expected for the regular season. I don't think the pre-season games are meaningless, as the Seattle game last year showed.

Easy travel. Coaching staff can get back quick and start finalizing the roster.

We might see Brady hand the ball off once.

Actually you begin to know what to expect during voluntary, no contact preseason training camps. The way guys hit those boards and run sprints tells you a lot about what to expect during the all-important preseason phase.

Preseason for the L.A. Rams will be hosting the Cowboys and the Chiefs, then visiting the Broncos and Vikings. No Raiders, no Bears :(

Whats with the Browns locked in as the 4th team we play each pre? Is this 4 years in a row?

Because the Bears want at least one win in pre-season. It's the JV game!

Actually, I think it's like 10 years in a row. I wondered the same thing a while back and was told the teams can actually request who to play in the pre-season (at least for Game 4) and for some reason the Browns and Bears have decided to make it an annual thing...maybe for the easy travel, maybe since they're not in the same conf/div, who knows.

I recall reading the same thing. And even in the years they play each other in the regular season what could they possibly learn about each other in a preseason game 4?

And based on the collection of magnet schedules I have on my file cabinet, they have played Cleveland game 4 at least since 2004, which is the oldest one I could find
